A couple of friends and myself thought today would be a good test day at Tomball. Nice overcast, kinda clear.

Except it is cold. 28 degrees with a straight north wind.

Now, that might not seem cold to all of you that live further north of the 29th latitude, but for us reptiles down here, it’s close to hibernation time.

But, any day at the range is a good day………I think,:)IMG_2557.jpeg

It was -12 when I got up this AM. Now it is half as cold, -6.

Dad used to talk about some of his military buddies. The temp in Burlington Kansas happened to be 0 on the thermometer. A comment was made it was sure cold that morning. One of the guys had been stationed in Alaska, his comment was “ this is nothing, I have seen it twice this cold in Alaska”.
He always thought it funny and I still chuckle about it 40+ years later.

So just how cold is twice at 0?

;-)

-30 Friday night, I had a plumbing problem to deal with, very stressful for this old man, I forgot to take my BP meds.
I bet @tom was out testing that new rifle.

Do you still live around Burlington

Been super windy here in central Texas the last few days but today and for the next 4 it's cold for sure... Down in the teens over the next few nights with a chance of rain Monday..... Won't turn out well.... Iam trying to work on my rifle skills again after shooting shotgun only basically for the last three years...went out yesterday with a rimfire trainer but the wind was blowing so hard it was blowing things off the bench , I was scared my spotting scop which isn't small or lite was going to end up on the ground....

it was -19 with a feels like temp of -46 this morning but it's up to a blistering -9 and wind chill of -33

Ron, as you know, that's tanning weather for us Iowans.....

Plenty of snowbanks to lay in. Came back from Des Moines yesterday and had to take some county roads to get home as the State Highway was blown shut....

Living in the mitten, I'm a firm adherent of shooting in any weather as long as it's above 25 degrees. We have reached mid January, so I won't see many days above 25 until March.

9 degrees here today. Windchill -5. Nothing too terrible.

Looks like we are gonna get the biggest snow in some time starting this evening here on Cumberland plateau in Tn. I don’t mind the snow but the negative temps that are coming aren’t that fun since I’m still living in a camper. Looks like I’ll be sledding with grandkids tomorrow.....

In the great state of Iowa we have received between 15 - 20 inches of snow with 35 - 45 mph winds this week. Wind finally slowed down today but the temp was -17 this morning. Spent 5hrs digging out today.
Have friends that live on gravel country roads that have been snowed in for 4 days.
