Have the ap. Establishing the ONE inch spread in the beginning of the program is very hit or miss for me. 1 time out of ten I get it. When I do it’s great.
What am I doing wrong?

How are you establishing the measurement? I use targets that have one inch squares like the target below, which makes it easy. You can also use a ruler and make a 1inch mark on the target before taking the picture.

I find the further I zoom in to place the 1 inch marks, the easier the alignment and marking the spots will be. Steady fingers help, it's an obnoxious interface.

Are you using an older phone? the newer ones work great. All you have to do is put the marker onto of the area you want to mark then expand the screen with your thumb and trigger finger to magnify and zero right on the first mark. then shrink down in reverse process and do the same thing for the second marker.

Why?

Unless you have things zoomed in more than I do in the pics above (Google Pixel 7 Pro, for reference), you don't need to zoom out. Just scroll over to the next grid line, position the marker, and hit 'Next'.

Only real problem(s) I have with this software is the "Advanced Toolkit" - or lack thereof. And the complete lack of response from the developer regarding the same.

I use a stylus and tried my finger
No good. If you can’t get past that I guess that’s it.
It worked 2 times out of 20 attempts.

Are you able to zoom in? It's not a one-finger or stylus thing; it's two-fingers, put them together and spread them diagonally - sort of a reverse-pinch motion.

An inch is exactly an inch if you are claiming groups to the 2nd digit so I magnify to not make measuring mistakes and regain my lost 20/20 vision. it only takes a micro second to magnify

What exactly happens when you try to set the reference points? Here is a screen recording I just did, hopefully it helps. I just zoom in to make it easier, set the first one, click next, set the second one, click next.

Set the first measure point then push next and set the second. It will really help being more precise if you expand the screen with the 2 finger spread. And you can do the same thing when placing your bullet hole circles to measure group
