Anyone like racing?

I wish I had gotten into racing when I was young. Last fall took my stock 2022 Camaro SS and ran it on the Tri-Oval at Pocono Raceway. It was an awesome experience. I’m heading back in June. 160 MPH is the target the next time. Right now it’s at 455 HP but I’m eyeing up a twin turbo system that would push it up to 700 HP and 680 lb/ft at the crank.

Yeah. Too bad GM put the Camaro on the chopping block ... again. After all, it's helping to "destroy the climate [sic]". GM has disavowed ICE altogether. Oh, wait (from IBD.com yesterday; emphasis added):

Warren Buffett is known for holding onto his S&P 500 stocks forever. ... Buffett usually likes to add to positions when they're down, so it's interesting when he sells some losers. General Motors is the most telling example. Berkshire Hathaway unloaded 100% of its 22 million shares ... in the third quarter. That position was valued at $848.3 billion on June 30. Shares of GM are down 16% this year. That makes it the worst performer among all the stocks Berkshire Hathaway sold off completely in the period. GM, struggling to compete in electric vehicles, is expected to post 3.6% lower profit in 2023 and nearly 8% less in 2024.

I guess those massive government subsidies, grants, and tax credits to GM (over $65 billion since 2000) aren't feeding the bulldog. Of course it didn't help that Honda recently announced canceling a joint project with GM to develop an "affordable EV". If EVs remain unaffordable for the masses, how will even 50% of Americans ever buy one? And how will GM, soon to be a 100% EV maker, survive? What does that piker Warren Buffett know?

There were a lot of the old LaSalle Transmissions used in a wide variety of vintage drag cars.

Butch, my guess was also a Arden Conversion on a Flathead.

I still can’t believe the bottom end of the flathead could stand up to the 230 HP that the breathing ability of the conversion could produce.

Did anyone like TransAm racing? I'm a bit younger than most of you gearheads, but Mark Donohue was us school kids' hero, as was the unlikely AMC Javelin that dominated the big-bore class in '71. But the 2.5 class with the Datsun 510 out-dueling BMW 2002 and Alfa Romeo GTV prompted my best friend to trade his late grandmother's '57 Chevy wagon for a 510 sedan.

Jackie, originally they were made for more HP for trucks.
