UPS Powder Delivery Issues

Since the great pandemic of 2020 UPS does whatever they want. They wont honor delivery promises, they wont honor insurance, and they wont require signatures.

My house looks like a dump, I drive old, thrashed vehicles, and I live on a busy road with plenty of pedestrians.
No packages ever have been taken from my stoop. Over the last decade, I've had at least a dozen packages of test instruments worth over $20K each, dropped at my door.
Two "signature required" packages of gun parts were dropped on my door step yesterday - USPS and UPS.
I have a shipment of ammo and a bunch of "hi cap" magazines coming later this week.
The ammo is coming via FedEx, and the mags via USPS. I worry about the local FedEx hub, as it's been a black hole where packages will stay there over a week. With USPS, I doubt they'll be a problem.

Today, FedEx came into work to make a delivery of three packages for a fellow employee that were not entirely cheap. I was maybe 50' away from him, walking toward the shipping/receiving area and then asked if he needed a signature. He then said yes, and he had to quickly erase something from the signature box on his device......

If anyone of you guys knows Mudcat from the National Match forum, he recently had 5 cases of VV powder somehow go missing via UPS..... It got found but it took a few days.

Since my other post was deleted I'll post this, UPS deliveries to my house are usually set outside the fence, even tho I have requested for them to set EVERYTHING inside the fence. FedEx is mega better all the way around, we have a good relationship. Everything is set inside the fence.

Having similar issues with USPS. Would be interesting to see if the delivery motto has changed. What happened to “ Neither rain, sleet, snow, or dark of night keeps the delivery from their appointed rounds”.
My understanding they are all GPS tracked and Heaven Forbid they stop to help somebody.

I don't remember the last time I signed for something, despite a bunch of shipments requiring an adult signature on delivery. This includes powder, primers, and even a pistol being returned from the manufacturer.

That said, I've started having stuff shipped to a retired shooting buddy, as there's too much porch pirate action in my neighborhood. He's usually home, but he says he's never been asked for a signature either.

Sign up for UPS My Choice and you can request that packages be held for pickup if you are worried about being left unattended
This is why I have my choice, I choose not to blame others when I don't understand in the begining. Tells me when and what's requiered from me, if I don't like it, I can request specifics as soon as ups pics it up.

My powder always comes ups, it would pi, me off if I had to drive 50 miles to go get it and come back. If I ain't there, my driver knows where to put it! YOUR CHOICE, or we'll that's why they call it MY CHOICE!

Ups doesn't require signatures for powder. We don't grab a signature unless our board prompts us to complete the stop with the signature. As stated in many posts I believe you can ask for signature required via my choice? I'm not real sure just deliver packages based on what the board wants. If there is a gun delivered not requiring signatures as they should, it's on the shipper to relate what's in the box. Then it'd get sig required.
As far as hazmat labels, it's all over to be easily seen so packages can be placed on the floor in the package car so they can't fall off a shelf. I just deliver packages. Most time I don't know what's in the package (pet food obvious) so if there was a gun or something valuable and is left because of no sig required I'd have no idea

Also if it's a sig required package through ups they should ask for a signature. All I can say is my job isn't worth not asking for a signature. Maybe it's regional where they can get away with it but I wouldn't want to "sign" for someone's package and have it go missing. Absolutely not worth it. You could always call and say you never signed for the packages but they are left. Even tho it's a pain to call it may be worth it

Or as you've done, develop a relationship with the driver and make the choice if you trust the guy to figure out where a good spot would be for packages if your not around

A good example of the truth. Not following the rules just get in get out asap.

They weren't any better before, we were open 24/7 in a secure compound with 2 security booths on two separate entrances and UPS would claim that they could not deliver business closed.

The packages I referred to were, at the time of shipment, flagged by the seller to me as requiring adult signature to be delivered. I have no idea who required it, the seller or UPS, but whoever it is doesn't get it.

Except that one FedEx package, delivered while I was at work, for which I apparently signed only my first name, and misspelled it.

Majday, I'm not blasting anyone over this; it's all observational (though I was getting tired of taking time off work to sign for things that were left on the porch.)

I got the text notice for my last powder shipment from FedEx: “Arriving between 11 and 2, signature required.” After working in the shop with the doors open and watching the front gate for 5 hours, I gave up and went inside to sit. As soon as my butt hit the chair, I see the truck pull up to my gate. He waited for me to get there, thank goodness.
Is anybody else a little worried about the new designation of “Explosives” for our powder? I can picture Joe at his podium ranting about the dangerous deplorables
buying explosives and HOW it’s just allowed to be shipped without a background check?

Divingin, Your good. I didn't think anything of it. I just can't imagine signing for someone's package and leaving it without having prior ok from that individual. I also deliver rural so that makes a difference im sure. Most the things ups implements make zero sense. There are times I've had people have to sign for Amazon packages- and have the person tell me it's a 10$ cd. It doesn't make sense. I get the frustration.

UPS requires adult signature for any firearm parts or firearms. I am not aware of them requiring adult signature for HazMat.
