The twist increases as the bullet travels down the barrel, It's nothing new. Italian Carcano's had gain twist a hundred years ago. What is gain twist?
So it makes the barrel faster?
I have two left!! I just put one on and it looks to be special. Next year will tell usI used to use a lot of rocks. They are excellent cut rifled barrels. I got them to make us a 4 groove for 6mm BR because I liked them so much. Those barrels hammered. @GlennK still has some horded. The only problem with rock is they get big contracts and its hard to get barrels out of them when they do otherwise Id still use them. They are all gain twist too. Even though they do not advertise that, which I like.
At the end of last year I bought my 2nd Wilson from Urbanrifleman. As we shot the bull on the phone we where talking about Patriot Valley and the Rock Creek barrels.
Patriot Valley was selling out the Rock Creek barrels that were pre fit, chambered, and muzzle threaded. I believe it's because they were moving to Osprey barrels. About a week later I decided to buy one. I ordered it about the time my 1-7 tw. Wilson from Bradley arrived.
That R.C. barrel sure is nice, I'm hoping it shoots as good as my Wilson barrels.
It was a deal I couldn't pass up.
26" 1-7tw. .223 ISSF chamber.
$450.00
Thank you Urbanrifleman (Bradley) for your commitment to what you do.
Oh, I'm ordering a 6br from Brad between now and the end of the year.
I feel I could always use another pdog 6br rifle.
Amen, Jackie. If Wilson would send me a 17 or 18 twist 30 caliber barrel in a HV or LV profile, I could chamber it for my favorite 30BR VFS Rifle and ascertain it’s accuracy potential.
I have a brutally simple attitude toward a barrel. Either it shoots at a competitive level in my chosen Discipline, (VFS), or it doesn’t.
This. For what it's worth... White Oak Armament uses a lot of Wilson barrels... and they're one of the best AR barrels...
But they're no comparison to the White Oak Precision barrels that are built on Bartlein/Krieger/Brux
I wish they made that twist because I would contribute to the cost of the barrel. If Wilson would send me a 17 or 18 twist 30 caliber barrel in a HV or LV profile, I could chamber it for my favorite 30BR VFS Rifle and ascertain it’s accuracy potential.

Iv been shooting Wilson bbls for at least two years, maybe 2.5 years. I started with a 8 twist, to shoot bra at 300 and 600 yards, then moved to a 12 twist for 100 yard matches. Iv had a few people shoot my gun that I know are better shooters than I am and say they like to know how I got the gun tuned as fast as I did.
Iv had 22 cal and .243 bbls and all of them d shoot great. Weird thing, Everytime I get another bbl they always seem to put shoot the previous one. I think I've had 6 of them this far. All for Remington type actions. Iv not had a cut rifled barrel for br shooting, but would go that route just to try it.
But it's hard to go that route when you know you have bbl that can shoot in the one's.
Just last Saturday, I shot my personal best with my Wilson bbl.. I'm starting to see where in short range it's not all about equipment. You got to do the same thing over and over and over again and again. And you need a routine. Iv not got that down quite yet. I check level on score. Check grip, and hand tension and hope I'm good.
I'm sure there's lots of other way to shoot more x's.
I'm always in the ten ring though.
What I'm saying though I always thought it was solely on equipment. Mainly what bbl and scope I had. But I'm still learning what it takes. I'll with no doubt get another one at some point.
