6.5 Creed misfires…

I've been shooting Alpha SRP brass with GMM205M primers, H4350 with no ignition problems. Recently switched to GM205MAR primers and still no problems (after over 67 years of reloading these are the first primers I have used with a headstamp!). However, the coldest I have been shooting is in around the freezing mark.

It may be interesting what if anything you find out when you pull a few of the bullets in those misfires.
 
Adjust your Sizing Die for, .001 to .002 of Shoulder "Bump,.. .003 Max !
I like to FEEL, the Bolt, "close on case, a Bit",.. on, my Rifles.

And since your fired cases may still be short of full length, you may be 0.010" headspace or more.

And for everyone providing input on how to properly size cases, he stated he didn't size them, just measured them and compared.

I use SRP Peterson brass in my 6.5 CM ALL THE TIME. I have no issues with them lighting the powder off. Shot the deer in the picture that follows using SRP and it was cold.

Looking at the pictures in your post, your primer pocket interiors look unusual to me. I included a picture of some loaded brass ready for the first firing. Can you measure your FP protrusion? With the other cases not being an issue, excessive headspace is most suspect in my opinion. For the first firing, you could seat the bullets hard into the lands to help.

What action are you using? When was the last time you removed the striker from the bolt
and cleaned it?

Many military rifles have .008 headspace and they go bang with no issues.

There is a reason you are having this issue, you just have to find the reason.

CCI 450 or other SRP are NO ISSUE in a 6.5 Creed case. Federal makes factory 6.5 Creed
ammo with SRP, never seen one not go off.
 
Not familiar with your action but is it a Remage that YOU set the headspace?
0.005" short for factory brass might be normal, I don't think 0.008" would be.
Maybe they are.

Unless you have a BUNCH of DEAD SRP (could be) you are hitting them SOFT.
Hard enough to make a dent, but not hard enough to fire.
Pin protrusion is probably good (deep dent) but case OR primer is moving when hit, cushioned.
I would look into your primer seating method.

Now when you get the SPR firing, come back and let these guys tell you how the SRP won't make the 6.5CM go bang.
 
I would bet you have bad lot like i do. I chased this issue, i even found my shoulder bump changed when they would not go off. I could measure before and then try it 4 times then measure and shoulder was set back. Tried to jam the bullet with no changes. Finally i took 4 pieces that would not fire with way set back shoulders and changed the primers. They all went off. Took me some time to find issue, cant go to the range every day. I am going to email cci about it. I think i have 3k of these primers.

Yup,. THAT,.. ^^^ was My 2 nd thought, also !! See Post #22,... YUP, probably, a BAD "Batch" of Primers !
He's using, NEW Peterson Brass, so DOUBT that, is / was the "Issue" ( No shoulder Bump, problem ! )
The OTHER Issue is, "Sometimes",.. SOME, SRP's, WON'T, Light Off,.. "Some" Powders,.. IN, cold, COLD weather.
SERIOUSLY,.. that can be, an issue for,.. SOME people, especially with, Ball Powders !
David Tubb, did extensive Testing of THIS,.. for his 6 XC "choice" of, Brass and decided, Norma LRP Brass was,.. IT

Defiance action. I have never taken the bolt apart. I’m actually looking into getting a bolt disassembly tool right now
 
if the primer went off the bullet has to seal and brass, and he would have had pressure when opening the bolt.... I think but I can be wrong..... also looks like the pressure went around the FP strike and bulged the primer...just what I see not a gunsmith just a key puncher
 
I pulled the bullets out of those rounds today, I don’t see any sign of ignition from the primer at all.. nothing blocking the flash hole, no sign of any neck turning lube inside the cases. I think this is a combination of too much shoulder bump and the primers not being seated far enough. I measured some other cases I had primed, the primers all measure .001-.003” below the case. If I give them all another squeeze with the priming too they’ll go to .007-.008”. I think that’s the problem. I think the case is getting “cushioned” from both sides and some primers aren’t igniting.
 
Try a different brand primer in the brass that did not fire. Do not resize it in any way. Leave it with the pushed back shoulders. Try a cci 41, federal 205 or a Remington 7 1/2 and please let me know. I just sent in an email to cci. My issue is the primer and i bet urs is too. I went round and round with this for about 6 months then tried a different primer in some of the brass that failed to fire. With a different primer of the ones mentioned they all went off.
