Lost Scope in House

Lost a MX helmet. Pretty sure for some stupid reason I put it in a trash bag. Never saw it again. Lost my phone while I was on the phone with my wife all the while she was telling me to hurry. Told her I'd leave when I found my phone. Read that last sentence again if you dont get it.

Looked for a holster I knew I had because I made it. It was not in the "holster tote." I KNEW I had it, searched for what seemed like an hour. Looked absolutely everywhere. Could not find it. I finally resolved myself to accept that is was gone. Thrown out, given away, whatever. Gone.

The next day I went to the tool box drawer where a certain specific wrench is always kept. Guess what, not there! So the search began. Never did find the wrench but guess what I found while looking for it.

Now here's a good one, and you wouldn't believe how often similar things happen around here. Freaky! Yesterday, about noon. I was in the home office/computer room. I had my reading glasses. I got up to go to another room. I put the glasses in my shirt pocket. I went straight to the other room. When I arrived I did not have my glasses. Huh, I'm sure I put them in my pocket. Went back to look. Not anywhere in the computer room. Went back to the other room. They're not there. I went back and forth several times. Not in either room, not in the hallway between the two, not in any pockets. Checked, double, triple and quadruple checked. Just disappeared.

I was home alone for the rest of the day and up and down that hall numerous times. Wife came home about 5 and also throughout the evening until bed time up and down that hall. Bedtime, she went to sleep first and I did later. I was the last person to walk down that hall. I had showered and put on sleeping clothes, no longer wearing the day's clothing.

When we got up this morning there in the absolute center of the hall way was my reading glasses.

Sounds like you and wife may share the house with “someone” else. I have had a few occurrences like that.

I'm surprised none of the Catholic school heathens haven't related the prayer for lost things,
"Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, come around. Something's lost and can't be found".
If you hailed from the SE PA/ Philly area, the h in Anthony is silent.

Looking for new 220 Russian brass that I KNOW I've prepped! Expanded the necks, sized just waiting to load and fireform, nope couldn't find. Two days later getting ready to go to range and ff some 22PPCs and opened the tool box that I put the ammo in and bingo! The LOADED rounds are in the box ready to go to the range and shoot, now I have 300 rounds to ff. (150 22PPC & 150 6PPC).

You had it...I mean, you opened the box to fondle it and look through it, right? It's there somewhere, just find it.

Ned, let’s infer some things and figure out where the scope is in the house.

Assumptions:

The scope was known to not have an immediate use.

As a fragile item, it’s still in the original box even if handled a couple times.

It was placed somewhere out of the way of more frequently accessed things, so it wouldn’t be in their way, and didn’t risk getting dropped or unnecessarily moved.

Gun related things are typically kept in one area of the house.

The OP has a lot of cabinets and drawers as he’s made a point of how the house has been searched.

It’s likely that if a gun was on order, the OP buys quite a bit of supplies.

——-

Deductions based on those assumptions:

It’s behind newer supplies;

It’s in a place that is not well lit;

It’s in a place that is physically uncomfortable to fully explore, such as a low or high cabinet, which would also keep it out of the way.

——

Alternatively, if you don’t keep a tidy area, and if this scope was not a purchase that you consider especially valuable, you combined it into a box with other long term supplies like powder and bullets, maybe for this gun, maybe by the box this gun’s stock came with, or back to the untidy theory, it’s on a workbench under paper or similar unimportant cover.

Question, where is the base and rings for this project? If you don’t have them yet, could you have already put this scope on a different rifle, and forgotten? If you do have them, they will probably be with 10 feet of the scope.

You could try calling Euro optic. They'll usually give you a pretty good deal if you request a quote. I bought a Meopta from them a few years ago. They beat everyone else's advertised price and not just by a little bit.
