6mm BR what?

I have not seen you guys out at the range for a while, What is Don building a 6br for?
Hi Brian F. and Don,

Going out tomorrow for 3X20 at 1000.

Looking at the county website it appears that the public line is open again Friday through Monday. We are hopeful we can get the silhouette range open soon now that there is new management there.

I was out there on saturday for 600 and 1000 yard. The pits were crawling with the mormon crickets.

Well, I sure hope that the county can manage to get it all open now---or real soon, anyway! I may have some more news/info before too long regarding the range situation I hope!

Yeah...I shot out there on the smallbore range last Sunday and we did have Mormon crickets on the range...not LOTS of them, but quite a few.

The one major item that many forget about was when Lapua decided to start making their version of the 6BR, they did indeed place “6mm BR Norma” on the headstamp.

But then they pulled a little stunt that really threw a monkey wrench in gears. The deliberately made the case web diameter a few thousands larger. That meant that all of the shooters who had rifles chambered for the Remington or original Norma would not chamber the new Lapua case, unless you had a hammer to assist in closing the bolt.

Many of us back in those days ran our new reamers ground with the Lapua dimensions in older chambers so shooters could take advantage of the great Lapua brass.

Sinclair even sent out a notice telling Gunsmiths that if their clients were going to use the new Lapua brass, they had to be sure and use the new reamer with the correct web dimension.

To me, that was the single biggest difference in the whole 6BR case dimension saga From Norma to Lapua. From Remington to Norma did involve the overall case length, as Norma standardized it at .1.560 when they decided that the 6BR’s real worth was in Long Range shooting.

Nice, I am going to get ready for the Rocky Mountain Match in Montana next month. I was able to get all my brass fire formed on Saturday. I still think we need to include a match for PRS guns on iron targets at 1000 yards.
