7-6.5 prc info needed

I just picked up a used f class rifle. It has a Borden brmxd with magnum bolt. I'm going with a 7-6.5 prc since it should perform close to the straight 284 that i already have. Which powders are working good in this cartridge with berger 180 & 184s? I see that h4350, h4831sc, n160 & n165 are available. How much freebore? What is the neck diameter with laupa brass for a no turn neck? Are you having to open up the .200 line to keep from getting clickers? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Mine shoots real well with N555 and Berger 180s
H4831sc does well from what I hear too.
Im shooting no turn with .240 freebore but I hear .235 is fine too.
Alex Wheeler has a print I used for my reamer and its a bit worked over on a few dimentions like the .200 line.

I'm shooting an ackley improved version of the 7-6.5 PRC and 2213sc (H4831sc) worked very well straight off the bat - 56.9gr is giving me 2880fps with Berger 184s. Yes, I could push it harder, but when I did my load development, the 2880fps mark was in the middle of a node with my current barrel so I've just left it there. H1000 also showed some promise but H4831sc was very quick and easy to sort out with this calibre.

I shoot a .321 no-turn neck. At the .200 line I'm at .535 and no clickers.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that h4831sc is working because it has been available lately. I haven't seen n555 lately.

Your Lapua Brass loaded round is .313 and Your Loaded Round Coal is aprox 3.130
with a 180 HYB. I Jump mine about .045 and well above the donut.

I take Virgin 6.5PRC brass and lube the necks and neck them up to 7mm.
Then I anneal after every firing moving forward.
If you neck turn, I used to turn them first and then neck up...however dont anymore.
Others may do it differently...just my 2c

Thanks Sandstorm. I do anneal after every firing on everything already, just didn't know if I needed to anneal before necking up. This is the first time i'll be changing neck diameter. Glad to know I don't need to anneal before.

Nah, Lapua 6.5PRC is factory annealed anyway, so just dry neck lube, and neck up. You'll just need to consider whether you want to ream the donut out after fireforming, or if your freebore allows you to seat your bullets above the donut.

G'day Mate, who made the stock?
Here in OZ?
Wanted a Cerus stock but could never get a reply from Will and others have told me that a year's wait is standard if he takes a commission...
Just had a 280AI built on a McMillan ZR stock using the same RAD system by FCP in Phoenix and Blake was really promoting his 7FCP and though it was tempting I opted for for the 280AI as I had secured 500pcs of Peterson along with 500 184 Bergers.
Is your 7-6.5AI built here in OZstralia? If so, who by and who built the reamer?
Ever chasing my local F Open and needed something to campaign against the 7's once my 6BR goes past 600yds though I have managed a 120.14 at that distance {200.14 for the yank's}
Also using the Hexta targeting system on the mound... Love it ahead of waiting for a pulled and marked target... Also loving the RAD as it takes the knock out of these old shoulders...
Also love my Rodzilla as well... Just trying out the new Raptor up grade at the moment, gives a wider base with a bit less weight. Having to spring the lid on the case to get it closed but it will go in with standing on the lid.... {:~)
Did notice the picture of the two cases makes the AI case neck look like it has a lot of blemish or even neck splitting...? Just the photo??? Is the neck slightly longer than the regular 7-6.5?
Hopefully better barrel life than the 7 SAUM's... One bloke I compete against is dropping in a new barrel every 11-12 hundred rounds...
Cheers, Fire Dog

Hey mate,

The stock is a Cerus, it took a year to get which doesn't faze me in the slightest. I would love to buy more of them but unfortunately attempts to get a hold of Will have not been successful, so I've gone down another path in that respect.

Matt Paroz at LRP Solutions built the rifle, and the reamer was my own design but I've got a different spec reamer in the pipeline, one that's a bit less complicated as I don't feel you need to blow the shoulders out on this case at all, it's pretty efficient as is. Not sure about barrel life, I think it will be closer to the 284 than the 7SAUM, but that's just a guess so far.
