30-6.5 PRC vs 300 WSM

Can a 30-6.5 PRC run neck and neck with a 300 WSM in 1000 yd benchrest? If not what are you leaving on the table by going with the 30-6.5 PRC?

Nope. Much less case capacity with the PRC. Be a cool round but more like the 30-06 in performance. May even need a medium to long action to run it.

SKWERLZ a few post up recommend that I should shoot a 7mm. I do not know of anyone making custom long range 7mm bullets. My original thread starting post stated it was 1000 yard benchrest. One 17lb rifle to shoot both light and heavy. The easy button is 300 WSM, I am looking for a way to do it with the least amount of powder and recoil.

7mm custom bullets :

BiB bullets - 180gn, these bullets are great
Barts Bullets - 180gn - I tested some of these and hope he puts them out soon
Burger Bullets - 180,184,and 190gn - all of them work great

There are more if you look -

all of these will work in LG and HG - so I only shoot one gun for both classes. NBRSA style….

Barts - not Available
Berger - not custom hand made
all custom bullet makers are having a hard enough time filling orders for their 6mm and 30cal lines, I do not see them in the foreseeable future introducing 7mm

You rule out some very good bullets, 166gn ATIP and Bergers ——.

i didnt think bergers were that bad? That wsm group was shot with the 220 hybrid long range right? I thought guys in fclass loved the 7mm offerings, 180-184 grain

Yes - that record target was shot with a WSM, 220gn Berger, and RL23. I was luckey enough to have pulled that target. Charles, also shot his second target that day with 9 in the x ring with the 10th not on paper… arggg. The 10 shot went over the target cuzz as he loaded it his finger touches the trigger. At least he was honest and didn’t shoot 11……
