I had not heard of having to draw a bobcat tag? Here in AZ ive called in a lot of them last few years. Only taken 2. Let a buddy take one for himself. 12 in total for last 3 years. Heres one of themOn a different note......
Couple years ago I drew a bobcat tag, and didn't have anything I considered fur friendly.
So I worked up a wimpy load for my 8" twist lighter weight 22" gun.
When the smoke cleared, I found a great load with 17.8 grains of IMR 4227, shooting 55 grain Ballistic Tips at 2700.
Best part, was I didn't have to re-zero the scope from my 75 grain VLD load.
50 yards - 0
100 yards +1"
150 yards - 0
200 yards - 3"
As it turned out, I never called in cat despite my best effort. However, I did manage to call in one coyote, and shot him broadside through the slats at 35 yards. No exit and he went less than 50 yards.

Thoughts on 22/204 brass selection…
Cost is least important. Accuracy potential, followed by durability most important
I intend to shoot heavy for caliber bullets, but not a speed freak.
WHAT I’VE FOUND CURRENTLY AVAILABLE:
• Nosler - Worth the extra $$ ??
• Hornady - Mid tier cost
• Dogtown - Least expensive
• Options I’m missing…..

That’s a good question. My 22-204 is being built. I’ll probably go with Nosler brass, 250 pieces. It’s twice as much as dogtown but I’ve had good luck with Nosler brass.

I have used 222 mag brass and fireform, when if I couldn't find 204 brass. Its a pain but it works.
I guess I didn't realize I needed another cartridge 'til I read this thread.
In reference to brass, I'll throw another curve in to the Dog Town/Nosler subject. I have read several times that Nosler brass is made by RUAG which is a Swiss conglomerate (as most know I'm sure).
I have Nosler brass for a couple other cartridges and it's good stuff.

That's in the lands a hair......
Not sure how accurate Quickload is for the 20-204, but it shows you need at least 76,000 psi chamber pressure to reach 3,700 fps with the 53 gr V-max in a 24" bbl.
