What heavy .25 bullets ?

I have a 71/2" twist barrel I'm going to chamber for .257 Weatherby for hunting deer and coyotes.
I was wondering what heavy bullets people were having the best luck with.
Are the 134 Hornady out yet? I would like to try the Hornady's and the 135 gr Berger.
Does anyone shooting a .257 Wthby have a good load and powder to try for the heavier bullets?

Thanks
Hal

Sorry. The heaviest bullet I have shot out of my 257 WBY is 110 gr Accubond. I used IMR 4350 max load from Nosler book. the hotter the load got, (in my rifle) the better it grouped. I have 1:10 twist so I don't think the real heavies would work in my rifle.

131gr Blackjacks work really good.

Black Hole Bullets makes 120/130/145 grain .257 bullets. Haven't tried them yet. I have a 7.5 twist 25 Prc that I am going to try the Berger & Hornady heavies first.

The heaviest that I’ve used in my 257 Wby is the 115 grain Bergers. The deer hit the ground before I can regain the sight picture in the scope. But really, the 100 grain loads always worked just as well for me. Bang flop.

Haven't shot the 134s yet but I will soon. The Berger 133/135 both shoot very well. I prefer the 135 for deer but coyotes will share the same fate if using them also. I have about 1000 Blackjacks left. They shoot very well also and have the same POI as the Berger's. I'm hoping the 134s from Hornady will also shoot inside the others.

Hal,
Shooters are reporting great results in both hunting and target with the .257 133EH HYB and 135 LRHT HYB bullets. If you need load data. Please contact us at: Support@capstonepg.com and we will be glad to help with both data and load development information.

I've done load development for 3 rifles all in 25 PRC, they all shot the 135 Bergers with minimal load development, very well. I've heard the 133 are easy to tune also.

The 135 Bergers shoot very well out of my 25 creed, I am running them at 2950 FPS
using R17. Shot them out to 1K quite a few times 10" plate is easy and have made
a few hits on a 5" plate as long as the wind was not bad.

Ordered some of the new Hornady bullets to see how they shoot only because they are cheaper than the Bergers.

If the popularity of these 25 cals shooting the heavies catches on maybe Hornady will look at doing something like a .257 135-140gr A-Tip with a .700 -.700+ BC. That'd certainly get some peoples attention.
It's caught on. I'd expect some ATips in the .257 eventually. 140 grain in the .75 range

Mull Mann what powder are you using and what kind of accuracy at what range ?

Hal
ADG brass, 57.5 grains of N565, CCI BR2, 22” barrel, avg 3050. That load was with a suppressor. 2.891 COAL. So far the farthest I have shot was a whitetail at 340 yards. A little under 1/2” groups at 100. Repeatable load. Only 104 rounds through the rifle.
