USPS PSA

this is not a rant, although i certainly could. what i was told by a local po super now makes a lot of the 'funny stuff' make more sense. not that i like it.

i attached 'tracking' to a first class business size envelope and much to my dismay watched as the only entry (after 9 days) was the item leaving the originating po. the online tools would not let me initiate a search for lost mail. so, off to the po i went. after verification and discussion with staff, i was told that the po is no longer tracking envelopes mailed first class, no matter what add on you pay the po for. it should more rightly be thought of as 'certified' like in the old days of attaching return receipt post cards. when you mail a first class envelope and attach 'tracking' it is scanned when you hand it to them, when it leaves the originating po, and when the destination po hands it to the recipient. that's it. between po and po it is handled bulk like any other letter.

if you really want 'tracking' and not 'certified' the item must be mailed priority. so, as said before.... priority is the new first class.

did i misspell 'po'?

Join the club. I sent 500 Sierra TMK bullets to Ohio and they disappeared in Denver. I was assured that if I just hung in there a little longer they would surely be delivered. I filled out a lost mail report to which the PO is supposed to be in contact about and got a big nothing out of that others than more wasted time. I’ll file a claim Tuesday and I’m sure I’ll get nowhere with that either. Some thieving bastard probably made off with them.

A nice guy on another forum sent me an action screw for my Arisaka project. The envelope was torn open and the screw was wrapped in poster board and the screw was taped to the inside of the poster board so you could not feal it. The screw was gone. The PO doesn't even care what happens to our stuff, not firearms stuff all stuff. Diversity has ruined it over the years, and as long as it is diverse no one cares

I sold a lot of items in the classifieds lately. It was nothing for several checks from any direction to take minimum 8 days, one took 14 days to the day.
A flat rate priority small box I sent with tracking went 180 miles to the "regional facility" in Bismarck where it sat 8 days before moving on to MI then to it's final destination in IN, 16 frickin' days.

All of my transactions took way longer than should have over the course of a few weeks, not just an isolated letter or package.

AND "priority is NO LONGER guaranteed, to be delivered in the stated time frames, just more excuses from a bloated GOV agency that can't do their jobs as stated and then they have the balls to ask for billions every years and we let our representatives give it too them.
but it aint a government agency anymore

YES, POST OFFICE HAS 2 O's :D:D:D

here is a new one for me: had a couple parcels' tracking show delivered to my mailbox last night. no parcels in or around box. caught the letter carrier just now and the parcels were on the truck. she handed them to me after i asked about it, along with my yesterday's mail. so...

apparently when dealing with usps 'delivered' may not actually mean "delivered".

I think I've seen the same with UPS 'Innovations'. As I remember, I've seen UPS Innovations say 'delivered' when it was delivered to USPS for the last leg to the mailbox.

What type of envelope?

I have had that few times. Tracking said it was delivered and I didn't get the package until the next day or three days later. We got a new delivery gal about 6 months ago and haven't had any issues, she is quick and cute, I like that!

Bought a scope ($$$$) from the classifieds here.
Seller insured it and requested/paid for a signature upon delivery by the addressee (USPS).

I was called out of town, I thought, no problem there is no one to sign for it, so it won't be delivered. Came back home it was laying on the porch.
It worked out for me, scope was as advertised, but could have gone badly.

It was just a plane old paper envelope. The way the guy packed it tapped to the poster board it was obvious some was inside but no way it could be determined it was a machine screw. Way too many missed deliveries and busted open boxes. The facility where the mail and packages get sorted must be under surveillance. but the woke world doesn't want somebody prosecuted for stealing something that is this easy to steal.
