So now you need to track that guy down and say "I apologize and Thank You". You're NOT the bas***d I thought you were.
There ARE a few out there but not EVERBODY is a low life.

I worked in the Car Repair business and had LOTS of folks call from pay phones way up in the Country. (way before cell phones) I would tell them "give me the phone number, I'll call you right back so you don't have to spend $$ calling me".
They were SURPRISED that I called them back. I told them I would. Nothing like keeping your word.

I have used the USPS to send packages a dozen times in the last couple of years, USPS priority mail- it always got there when they said and I did get the tracking info when I dropped it off.

So far they have done a good job for me, I do think/believe some Post Office Sites are better than others. It just depends on the person working the terminal.

I just shipped a rifle to Ronnie Long, insured, packaged by me, receipt in hand, at the counter lady said "do you want a receipt?" I'm like duh? YES! At this same UPS drop off center about 1-2 years ago I dropped a package and didn't get a receipt and guess what? It never made it, a $300 camera I was returning to Amazon. Lesson learned! Glad yours turned out differently!!

A tracking number only tells the last time they knew where something was.

I’m fortunate that my company has corporate contract rates with FedEx. It’s cheaper for me to send a package 2 day ground than sending it priority through the Post Office.

Had a barrel shipped Fed-Ex from Bartlein. Got lost for two weeks, tracking showed it passed my Texas location twice. That barrel has been to more US cities than I have.

Ain’t that the truth! I sent a check for a rifle via Priority Mail and it took around a month to get there. Only two states over!
Lost mail investigation was useless. Postage and canceled check fee cost me about $40, filed a claim with USPS and eventually they decided to reimburse me $18. Go figger.

Two weeks ago I had an Ebay purchase shipped USPS from Michigan, it made it to Grand rapids then disappeared for 8 days then showed back up at the senders house with a label from UPS(yes, UPS) saying they couldn't ship it without payment. How on earth it got from USPS to UPS I have no idea, but when brought back to USPS they shipped it with the same label and tracking number and it got here to CA in four days.

In Houston it is the Northeast Distribution Center that only hires magicians. They make things disappear faster than David Copperfield

That's cause they aren't worth much money. Try sending your final car payment, or a large money order, or birthday money to family. Sure thing they'll lose it or it'll turn up late! 100% of the time for me over the past 2 decades.

USPS has never failed to disappoint me. Anytime money is involved, USPS loses or delays the package. It's incredible!

Up until a month ago I would have disagreed with you, but the USPS has really taken a turn for the worse now for me. The last 5 or 6 items that I have shipped Priority mail have all... 1)failed to make it on time, 2)failed to update tracking along the way, 3)failed to notify of delivery...they also will not do anything for 60 days.
I shipped an item priority mail and insured...it showed as departing the PO that I sent it from...that was the end of any tracking. I went to PO after 7 days and they could not offer anything more than what I could do. They finally lodged a complaint for me and directed me to what would have been the PO where the item would have arrived at. I did talk with the Postmaster of that facility and she assured me that the item wasn't there and hadn't been received, but that she would notify me as soon or if it ever showed up.
The next day, the person that I shipped the item to informed me that it had finally arrived...I called that Postmaster back and told her that it had in fact been thru her PO and obviously had not been scanned...she never offered anything other than "glad to hear it made it".
I currently have an item out there somewhere...tracking has not been updated...only 1 day late so far. I have come to the conclusion that paying for Priority mail, paying for tracking and expecting tracking and delivery to be on time is a joke. They sure don't care much about your package but will take your money for these "PRIORITY" services!
