223 brass Lapua vs Lake City

rebs

I came into a bunch of Lapua once fired 223 brass. I have been using lake city year date 2018. Is there a difference in capacity, do I need to work up a load again for the Lapua cases because of capacity difference? My accuracy load with lake city is 24.4 gr reloader 15 with an 80 gr smk bullet using BR 4 primers. I shoot these in a Tikka 223 bolt rifle.

weigh the cases and compare... this should give you an approximate idea of capacity similarities or differences.

That being said, any time you change a component you should back off and rework your load.

I have some VERY old lapua 223 cases that are much heavier than LC, current Lapua and winchester, so have to use less powder in them.

More than likely the Lapua will have slightly more volume. Load up your existing load in the Lapua and chrono it vs the LC.That will give you an idea if you need to bump up or not.

Look at the home page for 223 and you will see LC has a little higher capacity. I shoot both and did not find it made any difference vs Lapua for fclass.

A little info I found on an existing post
