Who's got a new truck ?

I'm looking for a new full size P/U truck.

Who's got a new one .... how do you like it and what did you have before.

I am leaning towards a Tundra or a GMC Sierra, but have not done any research as of yet.

Lemme' know

Thanks
A Friend of mine always had Fords. As you may know, guys are lifting the cab off the frame in order to work on the engine because the engine is so far back underneath the cowl. He bought a new Tundra a few years ago and lo and behold, the engine is actually accessible under the hood!

edit to add; maybe the new Fords aren't so bad. I don't know.

No they are not any better. General Motors too, lift the cab, then have at it..

Are there any models of the gas chevy v8 that you can get without the Active Fuel Management? I've had a couple of friends with late model Silverado 5.3's that had their motors pretty well destroyed by an issue with this. Always been a GM feller, but this scares me.
My 2012 has the afm on it. I took it down to a tuner and had him disable it on my truck and my 2013 yukon. Now it will not go into v4 mode!. I know lifter can still fail but now they are not locking and unlocking. I think thats the main issue with them. Same lifters from 2007-current and all years have had issues.

I bought in the summer of 20' my chevy trail boss LT with the 6.2 motor. I really love it with that motor plenty of power and goes fast when you need it. Will also say with the bigger motor and 10 speed tyranny gas milage is actually surprisingly good. Was hard to find one with the crew cab and 6.5 foot bed, everything is 5 foot beds now. I will also say since then prices are outrageous now since whole covid price hikes I sure wouldn't have paid these prices. Out of curiosity I got on chevy website with there custom builder the same truck and specs this year is near 10k more then 3 years ago.

Ordered F350 Lariat superduty diesel March last year. Came in in late October/early November. Averaging 17 MPG in town, 20ish open highway. Haven't pulled over 12 maybe 13 thousand pounds w it so far and it performed flawlessly. I couldn't be happier. It does make you pucker up at the fuel pump if you get below 1/4 tank before you fill up. I guess I can thank our fine leadership for diesel prices.

What do you Ram insiders think of the Classics and Warlocks? Do they have less shit in them to break? Is the 6 cylinder lame for a daily driver that does very little towing? The fact that I can buy one new for around $40k has piqued my interest. I can get over the Quad Cab and older body style for the $25k+ saved.
Mine is a classic.i went from a 2018 f150 with all the bells and whistles to more of a work truck.it has power windows and locks but no key fob which is great cause I would always accidentally unlock the doors or hit button and cause the horn to beep telling me it was locked kinda annoying.also the big screen for radio and navigation in the ford was always freezing up or acting up.my ram has Bluetooth which I do use.works perfect
The ram classic I have doesn't have carpet which I love .just vacuum or wipe out with soapy rag . Vinyl floor is nice but I do believe you can get them with carpet and with the classic it's like a bench seat across the front you don't have a giant console separating front seats which is nice.its three separate front seats and back of center seat folds up and down for storage or a sixth seat.nice simple feature

I down graded far as bells as whistles but got exactly what I wanted

Also know someone who has the v6 your asking about if it's the naturally aspirated pentastar he says they are great he did a lot of research before buying.not sure if the brand new models have turbo's or not.his doesn't it's around a 2020 model.also the German made 8spd trans are very nice.

Guy I grew up with bought a 2022 ram 1500 5.7 with etorque.he loves it but I'm not sure sure about the durability of the system but he gets 1mpg better or more gas mileage from the etorque .he had to have a ram truck after riding in mine.lol

Do they still have that stupid knob on the dash for a shifter? They might as well just put in a Monotrol pedal like a Hyster forklift.

All kidding aside, I really do hate that shifter knob enough to never buy one.
Oh if you think the shift knob is dumb get in a new chevy with shift buttons, a button for each gear each labled, some you have to push, some you have to pull up on like a power window switch but they look almost the same. Dumbest thing I have seen in quite some time

Got a 2023 Nisson Frontier Jan. 23 this year,2023 yea. 32,000 with discounts, lots of discounts, my niece for Nisson corporate offices. You want a fullsize truck, 8 foot bed, F250 or better and a large check. I know.

Thanks. I’m currently driving my wife’s 2019 expedition limited. Clunky transmission, twin turbo nonsense, had the computer replaced under warranty for issues like you stated, sunroof had leaks. It’s a super nice ride, but I don’t think I trust it enough to keep it long term. Too much crap to break that can’t be fixed - only replaced. First time I’ve ever bought an extended service plan. Our kids are getting to the point where the 3rd row isn’t as necessary. Plus, I want a truck, dammit!

Got rid of my 2014 Silverado LT 5.3 recently at 177k. Had an exhaust leak and something going on with the transmission/ torque converter. It was a damn good truck, tho. Traded it towards a grand Cherokee that my wife now drives. It has the Penstar 6 in it- no eTorque (or whatever). Seems a little under powered compared to the Expedition. That’s why I’m curious how it would fare in a 1/2T pickup. I’d prefer a V8, but at what cost????

Maybe a Tradesman with a Hemi, then get it leveled out for better approach angle. They’re too low up front for our hunting property. Lots to think about.

You mean like a 1952 Chrysler? LOLOLOLOL

That sir is tires, not the truck.
i wish that were true. i ran Goodyear DuraTracks!

if the hubs were not locked in , it did not have limited slip or locking rear dif. one rear tire would spin on wet grass and DONE. get out and lock in the hubs to enable 4x4 while everyone laughed.
absolutely true !
i always ran an agressive winter snow/ mud tire

Tundra is likely MORE American than your Chevy. The engines are built in Decatur, AL and the trucks are fully assembled in Toyota's San Antonio plant.
The multitude of issues I encountered with Chevy and Ford pickups over the years truly left me with a disdain for both and the current mountain of issues my bud's 2018 F150 has and is having is just unreal.
Toyota might be assembled in USA but it is owned by the only country that bombed USA in the last 100 years....

I own a 2500HD and love it.... I have 3 friends that own 1/2 ton sierras and love the ride and the gas mileage! One of them used to be a Toyota guy but hated their gas mileage.

Right now is a bad time to buy. As others have said all the signs show the market on trucks is getting ready to drop. I'd wait.
Good luck in your search either way.

TTE stirred the pot but what kind of truck do you need in Florida?

hauling groceroes in a 1/2 ton with a tonneau cover or cap?

most people do not consider a trucknto be a truck unless it is a diesel. me at least a 3/4 ton

f150 are grocerie trucks aka 1/2 ton

No, the old stuff is weird but at least it’s straightforward pushing a button(unless I am mistaken). The stupid thing with the new ones is you have to remember which ones you have to push and which you have to pull
