40g noslers 224 powder choice

So I am going to visit some of my wife’s family in may and may have chance to help with some p dogs.
I want to take my 204 cz Kevlar and my tikka T3 varmint in 223.
I need to do load work up on the 223 with some 40g nosler BT that I have lots of.
My powders I have are
Cfe223
Varget
Ram shot xterminator
Pull down h335 (wc something )
And some 8208 I just got on a trade.
Suggestions on which powder to start with?
My 204 I have a load with cfe223 but might see if I can find something with 8208 that I didn’t have before
 
Xterminator is one of my favorites, good velocity and great accuracy out my rifles. H335 is good but it can build pressures on hot days especially if left in a hot chamber while waiting on a shot. I tried CF223 but my results were not very good with it, maybe just my rifle but I didn't pursue it when I had others that worked well.

Ramshot Xterminator is the same as AA-2230, which is my powder of choice for the 223 and 40 BT's for prairie dogs. Depending on barrel length, it's possible to bump 3800 with that combo. Bonus that it meters like water for high volume loading.
 
I really like 8208 in my 204R, using xterm in my 20p and 223 to save the 8208 for the 204R. Shooting 35 and 40's in all three cartridges.
 
CFE223 and Varget are on the slow side for that light of a bullet.

The lightest I have shot 8208XBR in 223 is with the 53 Vmax but it did great. H335 has worked well behind the 50 grain bullets. Never tried Xterminator but it looks pretty close to H335.
 
fwiw, I put a round in the action and let it sit there while I wait for a shot with the bolt back. That way all I have to do is shut the bolt and shoot but the round is not sitting in the chamber cooking.

If magazine fed, even easier - just pull the bolt back and push forward when a shot presents itself.

Blew a primer on a cooked round once - got lucky with no damage, but learned a lesson

Just wish I could learn stuff not the hard way once in a while.

Yeah I been looking for it for long time specifically for my 204. Got lucky and another member had some to trade.
Also heard some good things in 22-250 but trying to locate h4895 for that

You sure don’t need to take the tikka trash. Please be sure you Drop it off at my house on your way
 
lts been really simple this year with a Cooper l picked up in 223Rem with a burned stock. A call to Bell&Carllson secured a Phoenix style stock they once made for The old Cooper 21s. Decided to start with my favourite weight prairie dog bullets. These being 40GR, of course. l also started with the powder l have the most of, IMR4198.
Simply put l have used the same powder/brass/primer combo on 6 different 40gr bullets. 0nly one of the six 40gr bullets failed to group under 1/2 inch. l shot 40gr Ballistic Tips, 40gr Varmigeddon JHP, 40gr Berger JHP. 40gr Sierra Hornet JSP, 40gr Blitz Kings. This Cooper does not like 40gr VMAX. Goup went over an inch for VMAX. This 40gr trip l'm on with my Cooper has really been fun.
l hate seeing Cooper close. All my bolt gun favourites GONE!! First Winchester, Then Remington, and now Cooper. May they all R I P

Remington is back in business, and some Winchesters are still being manufactured.

Sounds like you’re having a good time. I hate seeing Copper go but it will make finding one used all the more fun. Better yet, if you own a few their value keeps climbing.
 
You may have a problem with the 40’s if your Tikka is an 8 twist. Get to working on loads now in case you need to bump up to heavier bullets.
