They must get a kickback from somewhere. Why does the USPS allow it self to be burdened with unsolicited junk mail? That is over 80% of what is delivered here?
That LADY needs flowers, at least once a week!!I live in a town like Mayberry, and our "Postmistress is a friend and neighbor". She's born and raised here and knows everybody and everything that's worth knowing about our little community. Probably even things she doesn't want to know.
If a UPS or FedX driver has trouble with a delivery, all he has to do is ask her for location, advice, or leave it with her for PO Pick-up.
One of these days, she's gonna retire, and then things are gonna suck. jd
I have more issues with "in stock" items being pulled and shipped than once it makes the trek. I won't drop names but it seems Covid must still be raging all across this country. The flip side, that we never hear is, I've shipped about 150 packages out in the last 2 weeks. One was a couple of days late! That percentage doesn't even approach their norm of getting it right. Yes, it sucks when it's ours but overall, they do a great job of gettin mail and packages delivered. I'm sure their failure rate is wayy less than 1%.
In today's economy, people are starting out at better pay than a usps veteran makes. I don't see this getting better fast but at the same time, we don't have it so bad either. I'd say they deliver enough to be "statistically significant" too.![]()
Yeah, the junk mail situation is crazy. My Dad died less than a year ago. I'd been taking care of all his business dealings for awhile, so I simply changed his mailing address to mine. BIG MISTAKE!!Why does the USPS allow it self to be burdened with unsolicited junk mail? That is over 80% of what is delivered here?
I have a nephew that started working for the P.O. about 18 months ago. He was telling me he works 6 days per week at 10 hours per day. He said he takes off with a truck full of packages 3 times per day. He said that at the end of the day, the pile of packages he will try to deliver the next day is higher than we he started that morning! Our business is 100% integrated with and dependent on the USPS. Some interesting factoids... Monday's are the busy day. One day of not delivering results in a pile of mail. At our smallish town PO, Monday mornings 10 years ago had 400 parcels (packages) waiting to be delivered. Today it's 6-8000. They have clerks working 24/7 unloading 2-3 tractor trailers every night. The increase in the number of mail carriers has not even come close to matching the increase in volume. The building size has not increase one square foot. The DA's in Washington have even said that they have more square footage than the guidelines say they should have. The DA's in Washington have never stepped foot inside an actual PO building. Most mornings the loading dock is packed full with no room to walk and there are still carts in the trailers outside.
14 years in business we have learned more about the inner workings of the USPS than I ever wanted to know. Most of the local folks, the ones we see, are busting their asses. Morale is often in the toilet. The District Offices and Headquarters are the most F'd up organization I've ever seen.
That statement is generally true about one out of six employees everywhere you go; and probably more so among city, county, state, and federal workers, union workers in any industry, -- let's see, is there anyone I haven't pissed off yet??Postal workers are worst than ever they think they are working if they breathe
Folks would still complain, especially is the horse had an exhaust leak in their yard. And that is why they are in the toilet. Lots of through put and negative profit.
Maybe the Pony Express needs to come back? Heck, that’s even “greener” than the electric vehicles.
I am sorry but that sounds a little nuts. What would be the advantage to the postal service to agree to terms where they lose money? Both FedX and UPS ship many things the same way. Hard to fathom any entity agreeing to do a job below costs.not true, the amazon rates negotiated were a money looser for the USPS
More cash flow and gross income with very little change in operating costs. They are working harder than ever, I'll say that for them. But they had a pretty easy job for a long time and I don't see many postal employees over doing it, still. Although, I do feel bad for the mailmen and women that do their job on foot in cities and towns around the country. I'm too old for that!I am sorry but that sounds a little nuts. In that case, it is making a profit or breaking even, not losing money on the process.More cash flow and gross income with very little change in operating costs.
