If "the world" determines that it won't tolerate one more nation getting gobbled up by tyrannical powers, even if they imagine those other countries are theirs to take, I suspect China will indeed do their worst. With Taiwan, I think that's the one face-saving thing they simply won't tolerate being kept from them. (Of course, they've got a solid amount of patience, compared to most other nations. They might decide to wait it out. But they might not, as it's "China's" territorial integrity they imagine is on the line here.)

Time will tell.

I'd kinda like to know whom the military genius was that.
1) Decided to wait as it could cause harm if it hit someone after being shot down.

Your point is well taken but I read that the only 2 U.S. planes that could reach
up 60,000 ft. were the F 22 and F 15. I don't know for sure but that was the excuse
given to make this major "made for T.V." event so sensational.

I have seen Marco Rubio replay from yesterday when a reporter ambushed him telling Rubio that it happened during Trumps years . How in the hell would something like this be kept secret? And a reporter gets to expose this on tv. Last week in the Pentagon presser the Gen. when asked about other balloons, he said that info was classified. Then on Sunday,it isn`t. What is going on? Funny that when Trump was holding down the fort, Little Rocket Man was minding his own business, Putin (Trumps buddy ) was keeping quiet, unemployment was WAY DOWN, jobs were way up, the folks in NATO started paying "their fair share" but I forgot, Trump sent out mean tweets.
But I guess calling some leader of a foreign country an AZZ is good business??

Actually, during that Administration's term, with the exception of the year 2018 there have been fairly regular and consistent launches of missiles (including nuclear-capable ones) since it began. Fairly regular launches since 2012. And launches have occurred all the way back to 1984, with only a few years having none. Since Reagan, not one U.S. Administration missed some launches.

A novel approach that the World could take in the China/Taiwan debate is say “yes, we endorse China reunification, with the caveat the the Government would be patterned after Taiwan’s, ie a Palimentary Republic.

Not sure how the world's nations having that take would get the CCP to behave reasonably, there. Whatever else might be likely, I doubt they'd relinquish their our-way-by-force method of "government" to adopt Taiwan's nation-wide. I think they'd laugh in their sleeves at such an idea, seeing it as just another sign of weakness and impotence to halt what China's going to get anyway.

It's going to be a rough decade or two, coming up. And not just with China. The crap we're seeing on "the streets" is showing up almost everywhere in the world. Seems like every hot spot that has existed the past 40+ years is bubbling over. If it gets must livelier, a number of such players might well take the leap to warfare. (Russia already has, of course ... threatening nuclear retaliation upon anyone lifting a finger or involving themselves.)
