The Chinese Spy Balloon

Today, it was reported the “maneuverable” balloon has risen a bit to 69,000 feet. Above the service ceiling of the F22 and F35 so you can’t just poke a few 30mm holes in it. Interesting move by the Chinese. IMO it should have been shot down long ago over water before it got to the Aleutian islands…

The only reason this is even a story in the first place is because it was spotted by civilians. As one official has clearly stated...."This is not the first time for an event like this".

Don't think for a second our intelligence services and/or military didn't know thing thing was coming our way long before it got over US territory. This is merely a tit for tat kind of thing IMO. I can guarantee you with damn near 100% certainty we've had spy aircraft of some type (possibly similar?) going over Russia and China and North Korea for many, many years now.

I've been reading so many comments in places like this and FB, etc that are coming from people that can't even begin to think outside the box on a higher level about how complex of an issue this really is. It's my way of getting a good dose of comedy for free if nothing else.

It will be interesting to see how this comes to an end, but I'm not wasting my time worrying about it at all.

What would Donald Do ???
Donald jr. suggested civilians might take matter into their own hands and shoot it down. The problem is the ballon is around 60,000 feet or almost 5 miles high and I doubt that any civilian gun can shoot 2 miles straight up, let alone hit it at 5 miles. Then there is the problem of what happens to the bullets that are shot into the air. They are more likely to hit someone than the ballon. Then there is the FAA rules and regulations. It's a federal crime to shoot at anything like that. Maybe they can inject it with bleach.

Well…. They project a flight path across the Carolinas. If it raises or lowers in altitude it can likely vary the flight path.

Hmmmm Savannah River Site would be an interesting spot for a flyover. Let’s wait and see.

Doesn't sound like a legit comment from a guy who shoots F-Class among other NRA sanctioned events. There might be a bit of mis-quote involved.

"Classified Documents" and "The Laptop from Hell" have moved to the back burner. I can not help but wonder how long this 'balloon' thing will be remembered after it passes out over the Atlantic,,,,, even if it is brought down. If it should be brought down and analyzed, how much will we be told about it. Or, what kind of story will be fabricated to be told to the general public, "the rest of the story" hidden away in Joes' Classified Documents left next to his Vet , locked in the garage along with the 'new set' of classified documents he is collecting.
