Powder Price Increased !!!!

The .223 bolt gun is the most under-rated rifle. We're running a Tikka 23.75" with 88 gr ELDs. The thing tracks very closely to 6.5CM out to 1300 yards. 15.0 mils.

I see guys on the other forums who have a range with a max of 400 yards or so, and they're weighing out which caliber can get them out that far. "Do I need to go with 338 Lapua??"
I agree 100%.

It's more of a challenge to shoot the little 1 MOA targets at 500 meters at my range with the 223. Wind adds another level of difficulty but that makes it fun.

The best part is 223 is so easy to load!

We have a 750 yard target that's IPSC size, but it has a 1 MOA flapper in the middle. Most rewarding target on the range when you pop that flapper and see it disappear for a second.

Stop buying it...and when you do buy powder, just buy what you need.
This is the solution. People are still buying it as fast as it hits the shelves. There are some that really need it but if you can get away with waiting another year, then you will see the prices fall.

Primers are starting to drop because they are sitting on the seller's shelf for extended periods.

There doesn't appear to be many want ads for powder in the reloading section. I take that to mean people are able to get what they need through retailers. Or they already have what they need.

That and it’s a hassle to ship powder legally. Hence when you do see a powder for sale ad it’s usually FTF, no shipping.

My shooting buddy and I hit the range, get some BBQ, and share some stories of the work week.

It would seem that one shouldn't get too comfortable.

My local range, the one we hit up once a week (sometimes I go solo a few more times), which is 100Y indoors .... just sold out to the local police department. A $22M deal...

All of my other options are way less convenient. I'm less than thrilled. 100Y indoors for load development, troubleshooting issues, and just for getting something in after work ... all of that is gone.

Around 81 US dolla a pound over here, you gotta pay if you wanne play I guess but if you want to choke buy some new brass

A small, go-to shop near me typically has a couple of dozen different powders, mostly 1lb but some 8lb, usually priced at around $40-45/lb. Two years ago, that same shop had those same powders for a good $10 less per pound, many of them less than that. *sigh*

Glad I picked up a few boxes of Lapua brass, before it all got scarce and pricey.

I'll be a believer (that the market's "turned" sane and rational) once I begin to see regular supplies of primers in the $30/1000ct range. Ain't gonna happen anytime soon. (Heck, I'd be happy to see primers regularly sub-$75/1000ct, but even that's going to take awhile from what I can see.) Double *sigh*.

I have....springer airguns. No reloading, no cleaning and .03 a shoot for good pellets. With a good gun at 25 yds its just like shooting a 6ppc at 100yds. It seems the shooting group does not understand Supply and Demand along with having little self discipline. To me it's not about can I afford it it's about .....if you think you can bend me over you picked the wrong guy.
100% Agree.... I have bought once during this BS... Hated to do it but had to.... I have seen primers on shelves ranging from $79 and for the exact same thing $120... I shoot what I can find , if it's .22 then it's .22 if it's pistol stuff then it's pistol if it's shotgun stuff then skeet it is.... I can have plenty of fun with a brick of .22 a rifle and pistol in .22 and a evening at the range and at least I don't feel like I am getting hammered.. I refuse to lube up and run backwards at these people selling stuff at these prices...

After Sandy Hook I saw people buying baskets of cases of 5.56 and as many ARs as they could carry.... When obumer got reelected the same thing once again and now we're at it again... It came back then and it will come back again but panic buying only makes it cost more and last longer... This happens every ten years or when a distraction is needed.... As long as people keep paying crazy prices , the prices will remain crazy...

Was just looking at some Hodgdon Powder on their website. Some of it went up over $107 for an 8LB jug since last week!!!!! Might have to find another hobby!! Allen
My sentiments exactly. Between increases in necessities (food, drugs, lumber, gas etc. etc.) it is hard for the average person to end up with enough disposable income to support any hobby. Especially if you have kids. Or are retired.

the biggest problem is that new shooters will not happen at these prices married with children.
don't have the money to shoot and develop as into good shooters . the industry is killing it self .
we have Big problem . we need young shooters to keep your shooting sports alive . maybe
a new cheaper sport like 10-22 silhouette or something that. its a hard sell 5000.00$ just to get
started in benchrest . that's why the sport is dying . and manufactures. think they can keep raising.
prices with out consequences . old man rick

I think even the young guys into the Creedmoor at $2 a round for factory ammo are going to start dropping out.
