Where you seeing this Russ? I can’t find and Lapua 22 to save my life.I see Lapua has come or coming out with two new lines of ammo. Long Range and Super Long Range.
What current offerings? Every rimfire item they make is out of stock! There's something about it in the daily bulletins. BC is exactly the same as the rest of their bullets. If it's tighter ES, why didn't they just do that with their current offerings. I'm curious if it's better or if it's a marketing thing.
I think the days of having ammo available to be able to purchase thru the winter months to use during summer are long gone….. Just imagine how crazy some of the GB prices will be when it is available again…What current offerings? Every rimfire item they make is out of stock!
Brilliant! Advertise new items, when you can't make enough of the items we would buy if we could!
My point was why bring out more varieties, when you can't do the existing ones.I think the days of having ammo available to be able to purchase thru the winter months to use during summer are long gone….. Just imagine how crazy some of the GB prices will be when it is available again…
Eley match is around £180 a 1000...I think the days of having ammo available to be able to purchase thru the winter months to use during summer are long gone….. Just imagine how crazy some of the GB prices will be when it is available again…
The bullet becomes unstable when going subsonic. That is why the match ammo is all subsonic.I would not mind betting that the projectiles are exactly the same as their other offering.
If cci can punch a 40 grain projectile out at well over 1400 feet per second I would like to know why manufacturers can't punch out a 45 grain projectile at 1200fps long-range performance would be a lot better
I would be thrilled if they managed to run this ammo off of a new/different/expanded production line so that the traditional match ammo isn’t gobbled up for long range steel tapping.Prior to the growth in PRS-style shooting, .22LR match ammo was mainly purchased by 3P and RFBR shooters, as well as those non-competitors who sought top performing ammo. With the popularity of PRS, there are now more shooters looking for top ammo. In other words, the demand has grown considerably. Lapua is still loading on three machines and it's not easy to increase supply.
Unfortunately, the addition of two new Lapua .22LR varieties isn't likely to increase supplies unless the production line is expanded. Given the popularity of PRS, where faster ammo has many proponents, match ammo that says "Long Range" will sell easily as those with an eye on marketing understand. Lapua is filling a niche. Expect Eley to follow.
Match ammo is standard velocity (generally around 1050 - 1080 fps) because slower ammo is less affected by wind than faster ammo. In short, the faster the .22LR ammo, the worse it does in the wind. The bullet becomes unstable when going subsonic. That is why the match ammo is all subsonic.
I also wonder what size is the target? at 300yds. 12x12, 24x24, 36x36? and what is the goal just to hit it?What do these 300yd plus rimfire shooters use like in their prs type matches?
