The $30 powder thrower

I know several guys that run Lee Auto drums on their Dillons.

I guess it has the same wiper system. I looked on the website and saw that they also make a deluxe version of the pos model with a brass case and has $20 quick change drums. Plus it mounts on a much more solid stand. ordering tomorrow! anyone want a couple of the standard ones?!

I had heard that they were good. Bought one. Tried and tried to get it to throw even close. Ran 3 pounds of powder thru it. 4 tenth variance was about average. Now im not real picky but that was not good enough. Sent it back to midway. Good people, they took it back, no problem.

what powder? I have ran stick, mouse turd and ball and never had a prob with the 3 i have/had

Tesoro, curious as to what powder you were trying to dispense ? Reason I ask is because ive thrown 4 different pistol powders as well as Tac for a 223, and all of the charges (150+) were within .1 grain. And I mean either over, or under, but not both. I doubted the accuracy claims before I bought one, but have to admit I'm now impressed. I'm sure there are powders that are not compatible with it, and there are better choices for those powders........or, if you have my luck, you got one made on monday....rsbhunter

Bad unit, throw it away.
Yea at this price; that's the most effective.

I did have to tweak the tension on the drum screw; after which Varget metered fairly well. I throw 0.2g low and trickle up anyway; but +/- 0.2 variation with thrown Varget is impressive In my book.

Solid performance on Bullseye and Unique made mine a must buy, and I'm thrilled to have it.

I get half a 10th variation with varget on my one set up for it. About every 20 or so I will get no more than a 10th but that could be me. Half the time it is dead nuts. I am not switching powders with that drum!

For Stick powders, they are amazing. I have several, set each up for one load, and don't touch.
They do not work well with some extremely fine ball powders; the drum will bind up very quickly.
Lee says polish, etc. -That has not helped for me, with those fine powders.
(I have done the Lee suggested break ins, to coat the parts).
For the other powders, it will more than match the accuracy of most hand throwers.

I hope somebody will post a photo of how they set these up on a Dillon.

I used the LEE PPM and threw 50 charges of Varget 28.5 gr and out of the ones I checked, the low was 28.38 and high was 28.61. I shot them yesterday and fps showed

Low 2571

High 2665
