6br brass

New box of Alpha 6BR brass: low of .0117, high of .0131, about .0014 variance in the dozen or so cases I checked a bit ago. I guess about .0125 average..... Nothing I have could ever tell the difference in that, but YMMV....... Old brown box averaged about .0130, so at least the Alpha seems a bit thinner than the brown box Lapua.

ETA: If you're interested, primer pockets were all .122 +/- .0005ish, and diameters were .171- to .172- with pin gauges.

The only "con" I saw with Peterson brass is in the 6BR case the case fill was a little less than Lapua. However, in the 260AI I have been able to maintain the same case fill as with Lapua. The jury is still out on the .243AI as I have not done a comparison yet.

I just finished turning 100 pieces of Alpha 6br brass. Before turning, I sampled them for neck thickness. They ran from .012 to .013. I had a few that were just a needles width over .013. I turned them down to .009 for my .266 necked 6br. I did also check 3 or 4 for overall length. Big variations here, 1.552 to 1.557. I plan to trim them to 1.552 after sizing them. I'll do a final trim to 1.550 after a few firings. Overall they seem OK.
No way to really know until I fire them.
I have 100 pcs of Peterson 6br brass on the way from Grafs.

.243 + .009 + .009 = .261
.266 - .261 = .005
My loaded rounds are .262 to .2625???
Tolerance stacking?
If it shoots good, that's what counts the most!

I use a .259 bushing, then a .241 mandrel. The 95 gr Bib FB bullets I shoot have a .2436 to .2437 pressure ring.

So I'm going to show my ignorance here... can this Peterson 6br brass be ran in a no turn 6br chamber without issues?
That depends on what your "no turn" chamber dimension is?

I just got 200 pieces of Peterson Dasher brass. My PT&G Blue Box no-turn neck is .2704”. The Peterson necks ran from .0125 to .0133 on select pieces. Loaded dummy round ran .269, if your no-turn numbers match mine, you’ll only have .0014 total neck clearance. A bit tight. Turned mine to .012, no issue now.
