Just an observation

It breaks my heart what has happened to Oregon. And WA and CA for that matter. I was born in Southern Oregon. Went to college in WA. Visited CA every now and then back then.

I went in the USAF in 1983 and was so exited to come home to Southern Oregon in 2007. It wasn't too bad initially, but things kept getting worse and became REALLY bad under Kate Brown.

I now live in Idaho and SB114 has confirmed I made the right choice.

I still have unfinished business in Oregon. I need to shoot a big Blacktail. I have taken a few mature bucks but the truly big ones--and I have seen a few, have always beaten me.

I think it was about 50 years ago or so when Oregonians would tell those in CA to visit but don't stay. I guess that didn't work out very well.

N ID is nice but thinking of moving to a place with a bit less snow. I can still deal with the super heavy wet snow now but who knows for how much longer. Getting real close to the 7th decade and figure I better move while I still can.

Thought of AZ since it was looking good before the election but no thanks after the results. Maybe near the Black Hills of SD that gets less snow than where I'm at but a bit colder.
Why not come south east where you dont worry about snow period?

True, but I voted against it, checked on my ballot statis for being recieved for days... it always said 0 results. It's A corrupt all mail in fruad type voting system...but only 45% of people voted 1.66 million fruad by mail votes left on the table ... or disposed of? Who knows? Portland is so filthy, and crime ridden people in city voted overwhelming for it, and I have no reason to ever enter that cesspool. But our county Sheriff will no enforce it...it put a huge burden on the sheriff's budget. The rest of the state has been talking about forming a new Oregon portion of the state leaving those liberals to vote in their 4 or so counties by themselves...their problems are not our problems. We get no say, and tired of it. New California has been working on it too. It's been done before and is totally constitutional..west Virginia could not live with Virginia...and formed West Virginia.
State Of Jefferson long over due

Yea, that one’s a little murky. See, there was a war going on, and when the dust settled the entire Supreme Court was from the north, so VA stood a snowballs chance in hell. Fact of the matter is WVa was not established IAW with the method written in the constitution,

Article IV, Section 3 reads:

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

To my knowledge VA did not, and as of yet has not approved.

I love actually reading the document.

Forgot to mention that I hate humidity more than snow. I never forget getting off the plane at Kadena AB, my first duty station back in '80. Couldn't see a thing since my specs steamed up going down the steps. That place was torture. LOL

Then there is the vitally important issue of understanding your State's Law regarding use of deadly force, especially in today's environment.
I understand where you are going with this and agree BUT screw the law if you come to hurt/kill my family, If within my power, I'll deal with the "law" after you are 6' under or in an urn.

Now you can see how many made fun of California and it's gun laws and how now the idiot's are spreading their lies and wants to other states. In this case now in Oregon, it is even much worse, so far, than even California has done to gun owners.
So never say it can not happen in your state, and just watch which state it is going to pop into next.
The old common sense and free USA is really going to hell.

While I strongly support the 2nd Amendment and I don't wish to rain on your parade, I would be amiss if I didn't offer the following.

I just hope first time gun owners seek and obtain some basic training on safety and how to safely and properly handle their new firearm. This is especially necessary with the widespread sales of semi-auto pistols which can be somewhat more complicated than a revolver, although training is needed for both.

I see far too many first-time gun owners at the range that don't have clue how their new firearm functions let alone basic safety precautions. Just encountered this last week at the pistol range. Of course, I'm always willing to help and in fact I enjoy helping a first-time owner, but some are not receptive to such help, so I tread very carefully when I see a fellow shooter struggling.

While I fully agree with you concerning the need for training for new gun owners. I wonder what range you are using that allows an untrained person to use the range.
The range I use requires 8 hours class room training and live fire training before you are allowed to use the range. Not everyone makes it on the first try.

Is that an unattended range? Ive been to very large indoor ranges where they can go, rent a gun or buy ammo if needed, watch a short video, and be shooting with or without assistance in no time. Jackson, MS has one that should be the nationwide model

Brocks Gap Training Center Hoover,Al . Open early 1960’s. I’m guessing but probably at least 100 trained range safety officers. Always someone on duty.

Consent of the state legislatures and approved by congress ... possible ... and legislation, and all the formalities must be drafted by the states involved, but these states don't want to lose all that tax base and do not even worry about representation which is part of the tyranny, facing the oppressed. Then there is convention of states 2/3 of the states say we don't like this government, and make some changes...all this before we conclude we can not live under these conditions, with these people and their unjust, oppressive, unconstitutional governments.

A really aggravating issue with the M114 is no provisions for us older guys that grew up with firearms, have for years had a concealed carry license and passed every background check ever dreamed up. BUT now we have to pay $65 for the 'privilege' of buying a gun, PLUS complete a silly test to see IF we can handle said weapon properly. Been doing that for my entire life, but now have to prove it to some bureaucrat who most likely knows much less than I do.

Right now there is a backlog of over 12,000 people in the background check que. Not to mention none of the Sheriffs here are set up for this, lack the manpower to implement it, nor have the funds to make it work. All this thanks to a stupid "feel-good" measure implemented by libtards in Portland. Imagine that, and be afraid this crap does not spread outside Oregon borders.

Never say "it can't happen here". I said that until it did......
This is SAD for the entire PNW that's not called Idaho

As of yesterday in our local news paper, "the La Grande observer" there was a write up showing that now there are 29 of the 36 county's in the state saying no the sheriff's department won't enforce M114, not just the magazine ban. The last time I looked there was one or two who just mentioned the ban only.

There is also a very good chance any sheriff in eastern Oregon who doesn't agree with no on M114 will be looking for work in the near future. This type of B.S. from Salem Oregon isn't new here and yes it will go through the court system before its straightened out.

Now here on the normal side of things here on the east side of the state, I had a great time at the range yesterday because it's below freezing here and nobody else was there. I dug out my PSA GF3 from the back of the safe and ran a few boxes through it just for fun, ... I feel much better now! I put a peep sight on it and that made all the difference in the world as to group size.

Both clubs have a required orientation, but its focus is on range rules which includes some basic range safety rules but it, for obvious reasons, can't cover operation of an individual firearm which is needed for a lot of new shooters based on what I've seen at the range.

The classroom training is a really good idea in my opinion especially if the new member brings his or her firearm where the specifics of firearm functioning, and handling can be covered. The live fire training is also a very good idea.

I’m sorry but I just don’t understand Oregon. A year ago we wandered into Oregon with no objective in mind. We needed gasoline so we checked prices and you were about $1.00 higher than Montana. We got enough to get us back to Montana and said screw Oregon if it’s going to be like that everywhere. Did I miss something? I mean with taxes and all?
Oregon has been run by democrats for 3 or 4 decades. Each legislative session they fight each other over who can propose the biggest new tax. Sad state run by Portland metro area and you know how well they run Portland.
