Trouble with V4 Auto Trickler

So I decided to pull the plug and get the V4 and scale. In attempting to calibrate it I keep getting the dreaded "Can't read the scale" message. There is a supposed fix for this by adding a supplied jumper wire. Then it says if you get a light on the screen, do not connect the wire. As the screen lights up, I decided not to connect it.

So I decided to contact MacDonald Enterprise. Low and behold, there is no telephone listed and only able to contact them by email. Seems like a poor way to help a customer. I did send an email and am waiting for a response. Wen I invest this kind of money, I expect more. When everything arrived, I was very excited and of course expected to be able use it immediately. What a bummer.

Did you have anything hooked to the scale prior? I was using the v2 prior to hooking up the v4. I had to do a factory reset of the scale and it worked perfectly since. I also read somewhere that Adam was doing some traveling ,so it may prolong his response.

How do you reset your scales thx

When I got my V4 system I followed the instructions on serial port configuration and the scale didn’t operate. I called CE and was told it was already configured when I received it. They walked me through the setup and everything worked. There are some discrepancies between what’s in the manual and what I was told to do by CE. I think as madmixerman said, it’s best to call.

Make sure you use the wall wart that comes with the V4, rather than the one that comes with the scale. The latter is iffy on powering the scale plus trickler. The former is rated for a higher current output.

Check the scale itself by leaving the V4 disconnected, and run the scale through a series of measurements. That'll tell you if it's actually the scale.

Looks like my prayer wasn't good enough and I won't be going to church on Sunday.Went through Bighot's suggested routine and nothing changed. Still no response from Adam MacDonald.

I can tell you the jumper wire helps (or helped in my case) and I'm not honestly sure anything is hurt by using it but YMMV. I know when I got my v4 I had to jumper it right away because it was having connection issues.
