Autotrickler V4 performance

I know I can contact CE tomorrow, but was wondering if someone could fill me in on the V4/fx120 combinations speed at filling large cases . ?
Currently using a chargemaster, and then checking/adding kernels on my Sartorius scale up to 240 grains for 50BMG, and I want something with a few less steps.

Best I can offer is to throw 240 gr Varget tomorrow and time it for you, lemme know if that's helpful.

Just my $0.002 worth, but I think a V3 with the Dump feature would be significantly faster than the V4 -that's a lotta powder after all.

50 seconds gives you time to seat a bullet. That would yield about 60 an hour. My goal loading 308 is 100 per hour.

Thank you all for suggestions and especially for the real-life case filling.
I guess I better look at my process and see if it's worth changing. It appears the chargemaster might be quicker to get the initial charge in pan, but then I fumble around sometimes getting that last full, or half-kernel added while in the Sartorius pan.

I ask because I don’t know but does one kernel make a difference in a 240 grain load?

Just a thought but if one needs to do it quickly, maybe throw it short with a powder measure then trickle up the last bit. Assuming you can do that with a v4. Would get the time way down.

The only difference I see is that it moves the scale numbers up or down, and if you've got alphabet personality traits like me, those numbers have to be real close.

I can tell you this. I recently bought both a SuperTrickler and a V4 AutoTrickler. I’ve been using them side by side on my bench. After messing with both EXTENSIVELY over the past week… Seriously geeking out with them…. I’d buy the AutoTrickler over and over again. The SuperTrickler…? I’m not sure if I’d buy that again even at a discount. I AM enjoying it, and I have no plans to get rid of it, but it’s a huge pain in the ass compared to the ATV4. The ATV4 is simple, it’s elegant, quiet, and it is boringly accurate and consistent. I can’t recommend one enough, especially to someone coming from an RCBS/Hornady/Frankford Arsenal (name the brand) powder system. A lot of people on here will recommend the V3/IP Trickler combo as the current BEST powder system available. They might be right. The IP Trickler is a game changer for sure and if IP’s full system ever comes available (doubtful at best) I will buy one. But I think out of the current options available for purchase today the best money you can spend on powder dispensing is the V4 AutoTrickler.

I believe you can get into the settings on the app and turn up the rate of the bulk tube. But the way it is isn't bad for loading that much powder, I don't think anyone is going to be loading 200-300 at that capacity at a time very often.

That's great to hear, sgav8r! My V4 arrived the day before yesterday, too late to mess with it. Buying the V4 and A&D Scale combination from CE Products was painless. They communicated well, delivered promptly, didn't suprise me with added import fees or tariffs, and everything was packed securely. Bravo!

I had great hopes to fool with the V4 yesterday, but a storm knocked out the mains for the day. And now today, I'm off to a gun club work party. Eventually I'll get to the V4. Based on your findings and similar comments by others, I am enthusiastic to test the waters. I expect it will be a huge step up from my POS Chargemaster Lite (recently sent out to pasture) and my Creedmoor Scale / Dandy Trickler combo. If the Ingenuity Precision fully materializes, my fascination with shiney objects could suck me down that path. For the time being, though, I have a V4 to test.

I was using a Creedmoor scale for a while too. Great scale and highly accurate but it would drift a bit so you really had to watch the tare weight of your pan between throws. It was also really slow. If nothing else you’re going to probably be blown away by the FX-120i. It’s so blazingly fast and much less prone to drift. If that scale drifts it’s definitely due to outside input (temps/drafts.. or in my case SuperTrickler’s stupid light scale plate). Definitely post back on your success with the ATV4. My only suggestions would be thoroughly read and follow the instructions. Also watch the 3 ATV4 setup videos on Adam’s YouTube channel “AutoTrickler”. They are very very informative.
