Short range scopes

Right and it stomps on the target when you increase the magnification. On the other hand, an SFP reticle gets finer (more precise) in relation to the target as the magnification increases. This is why you simply do not see anyone using an FFP scope in F-class with its minuscule targets. and similar disciplines.
Not always true. It comes down to reticle design. Some SFP scope reticles cover more of the target at higher power than ffp especially if the sfp is designed to subtend correctly at say 40x but goes up to 60x and down to 20x. At certain powers it covers more. A good FFP reticle will cover the same amount whether high or low power. As an example the Vortex 7D reticle has a center dot that is .1 moa. It’s .1 moa at any range so at 1000 yards it only covers 1.047”. Doesn’t cover a lot at all. But a reticle that is designed improperly whether sfp or ffp can cover more. That is why blanket statements that sfp is finer than ffp is not always true.

And Norton has not specified his intended use, only the need for thick cross hairs. At lower mag ffp is anything but thick, but if Norton only needs it thick from medium mag and up the 840 ticks the box. If eyesight is becoming a real issue then how about respecting that and answering his actual question?
Not every shooter is under 40 with 20/20 vision.
