Short range scopes

Define short range.. I have a Sightron 45ed, no dot and fine CH for RFBR at 50 yds. Would not want anything thicker for me.

If your looking for a thick crosshair, Sightron isn't it!

I haven't had the funds to look through the other scopes mentioned.

Maybe try a first focal plane scope. The higher the power, the thicker the crosshair.

Scopes with thickest cross hairs : IOR 40x45, March 48x52 , Sightron 45x45, NF 42x44 ?
i like the german style crosshairs with the three thick posts and the bottom post coming to a point. they are around-- look through the scope companies info

The dot in the wire reticle from March comes in one of 3 sizes: 1/8, 3/32, and 1/16. The 3/32 one is very popular but the 1/8 would be thicker, of course.

Old age has taken it's toll on my eyes and I have a hard time with the small reticles. I'm just not ready to give up shooting. I love small cross hairs myself, just hard to see them.

Get illuminated reticles. It helps a lot to see and no need for overly thick reticles.

Really don't care about the dot, looking for thick cross hairs. Scopes with 40 plus power. Stated in first sentence, thickest.

Problem is the people who those scopes are made for do not want thick crosshairs as they are shooting sports that need a small aiming point for precision. You can pick the thickest of the bunch and it will still be pretty thin. An illuminated reticle of any thickness will allow you to see it a lot better and still allow a precision shot.

Why the 40+ power? Are you shooting BR or just want a lot of power?

There is no difference in the crosshair thickness between the March 48 and the NF straight 42. The other scopes I've never owned. I've owned 2 straight IOR 36's and that was the same thickness as the 2 that I mentioned. You's probably have to get ahold of Cheryl Warring and she'll change the reticle for you to a thicker one.

Don’t know about thickest, but the ZCO 840 has a very thick and clear reticle at 40x. Very good scope
Yeah, just so as to keep it straight. You're comparing an FFP variable scope to various fixed power SFP scopes. Of course the reticle is going to be thick in the ZCO at high magnification. It will also become useless for high-precision BR-style shooting. And it will be heavy as heck compared to the other scopes mentioned here.

Reticle in FFP is the same thickness in relation to the target no matter the power.
Right and it stomps on the target when you increase the magnification. On the other hand, an SFP reticle gets finer (more precise) in relation to the target as the magnification increases. This is why you simply do not see anyone using an FFP scope in F-class with its minuscule targets. and similar disciplines.
