REM 700 Primary Extraction

The Bolt in the new Remington I just built my 308 on had so many problems I just called Carlsbad and got a complete PTG bolt.
Jackie, there's one of the infamous late model 'RR' receivers here. Per normal, the cam angle on the receiver is practically non existant. Even with only .015 gap between the front of the bolt handle and the notch in the receiver, there's no contact between the bolts cam angle and the cam angle on the receiver.

I might mill the receiver cam angle off and fit a pin with the cam angle on it into the receiver....like Kelbly's does on the Panda, Kodiak, etc..

Dave Tooley mentioned this and this might be a good guinea pig for it. Will need to check out the bolt thoroughly before making a decision on it.

I have found a Holland's handle works well on the RR receivers. It has extra material in the cam surface (intentional to help with this issue) so you can fit it properly.

It’s hard to fully see with the shadow but the extractor cam surface can be fit as tight as you want it. I fit them to about .010” and you can get the angles to match near perfect if you are good with small files. You can get every bit of extraction cam possible out of a Remington with these.

Does Dan weld the original bolt handle back on or replace it with a better design?
I have a 300WM that could use a bit longer bolt handle when I have gloves on.

Buy a new bolt handle from PTG. And have it welded on. I like the straight handles, Not the sweept ones.

Talked to Dan again today. He gave me instructions on the phone that I could understand. He also is going to send me a detailed set of written instructions.

Problem was that my bolt was stuck so tightly, that in attempting to get it out of the receiver, I bent it the handle and lifted part of it off the bolt body. He then instructed me to use a vice and press the handle back to touch the receiver, so I could take the measurements he needed. In doing that the bolt handle broke completely off the bolt. I now have to call him again to see what to do next.

Pull the barrel and send the action with the bolt easy peasy

I can't take the measurements he needs because the handle is separated from the bolt.
Look in the detailed instructions from Dan. I think he has instructions on how to scribe a line on the bolt if you don’t have a bolt handle attached.
