Long story short I have been through a divorce after 36 years of marriage. Wife decided she didn't want to be married anymore and took her shit and left. Kids are all grown and families of their own (they are just as confused as me). She gave me the house that is paid for because she makes triple the money that I do so even with the house paid for she stuck me in a jam. She filed for "disillusion" so she had to pay her lawyer fees and I did not need one. Slowly getting my life back on track but still wake up every day lost and trying to figure this mess out.
Here's the craziness in todays world... We dated for two years, spent months planning a wedding, full day rehearsal, full day wedding, week long honeymoon, 36 years together and it all ended with a 9 minuet Zoom meeting! That's right! I got divorced via a zoom meeting. Just crazy...

Glad your back, you will get thru it. Zoom huh, well its a crazy world out there today. When the grass looks greener, that's usually an illusion.
 
Congratulations, you got off easy. Pat yourself on the back and treat yourself to a bottle of Louie the XIII and a high dollar hooker to celebrate. I could tell you stories of some divorces I'm familiar with that would curl your hair (not mine, I lucked out so far).
 
Add up the pluses. Your kids are grown and gone , you have a house.
So out how many billion women one rejects you.
Want to figure out why? Don’t waste your time.
Move on with your life . It seems so hopeless at the moment but can you imagine raising a 5 & 7 year old and a huge mortgage?
You’re looking better than you think.
No one likes change but when considering how bad it could be, you’ll handle the change.

Missed your post. All things considered it appears she paid her own way out and didn't take you to the financial cleaners, emotionally not so considerate.

Sounds like the kids are as surprised as you are, keep them close.

Take some time and figure out what you realistically want to do going forward. There are unscrupulous people in the world that prey on people who are adjusting to major changes in their live such as you are adjusting to.
 
Sorry to hear. Focus on your blessings. Every morning if you have to. Remember......it could have been a lot worse. I have a friend that struggled through an 8 year long divorce with a wife that went batsh$t crazy, got into drugs, drinking and just wanted to inflict as much pain as she could. He eventually met a real nice girl and he’s happy again.
 
People can joke about it, but it's got to be difficult to deal with this kind of loss because in thirty-six years there must have been some good times and it must hurt to have it end that way.

I wish you the best as you move forward with your life.

Be thankful you have your job, home, and kids. I have two exes and both I had to go to court and battle for months just to get joint legal and physical custody. Good luck brother. Times may seem tough now, but just that everything happens for a reason and life is too short to spend time with people you don’t want to be with or that don’t want to be with you.

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words. I know things will get better but it's still a blow to your ego. Holidays coming up and I'm worried about those. Close friends have been trying to keep me busy doing stuff. A good shooting buddy has got me into steel challenge pistol shooting and it's fun. Bet I haven't shot any of my rifles more than twice since July, missed my gold status renewal on here but shifting priorities have changes focus on money for now. I'll keep checking in and staying up to date.
