6 br neck turning question

Sorry guys I'm new to this neck turning gig. I got K&M neck Turner like many suggested. So my 6 br chamber measures .272 on fired brass. What would be a good size to turn my neck to for consistency ?
 
My go to standard suggested clearance is .0015" - .002" on single shot bench rifles and .003" - .004" on repeating hunting style rifles.
a 272 neck is generally thought of as a "no turn neck". So you don't HAVE to turn the necks. As @RICK SMITH said... this is a deep rabbit hole. I personally think you should turn them to get almost complete clean up. I would turn them until it appears that the entire neck has cleaned up. Remember that the first piece of brass you turn may be the thickest, the thinnest, or right in the middle. You will have to do several until you know which one you have. You can try to measure virgin brass to get a ball park, but you are measuring brass that is not concentric right out of the box.


.2434" + .012" + .012" = .2674" (roughly .0046" total clearance)

.2434" + .013" = .013" = 2694" (roughly .0026" total clearance)
 
Assuming a .272" neck and Lapua brass; I'd be curious to know if anyone has done a direct comparison between unturned necks and "cleaned up" necks. And, of course, what their results were in group sizes.

From what i've read, and remembered about that reading, there is no significant increase in accuracy.

From what i've read, and experienced..... my mind wants the necks turned so I dont have to worry about the what if's..... so i turn the necks.

So the way I look at it is this, I spend several thousand dollars on a new rifle. I then spend 2-3K on a premium scope. Now add in the best components available in the world, they are not cheap either. I then spend a bunch of money for the most stable rest I can find. Don't forget to add in...

FYI, and you can confirm this with him, Bart Sauter owns the current 600 yard HG group record, something like .311. He was shooting a 6BRA with unturned necks. Of course if you are a better shot, you might want to turn them ;-) On the other hand, I am not sure what his chamber neck was so you want to make sure you have enough clearance, and turn if you need to have more. These days there are some top shooters using .003 clearance for their 6PPCs. Back in the day I shot about .0015-2 and did not see problems, but I always practiced at 100 yards, and they tell me that they primarily see the advantage of increased clearance at 200.

Actually, I'm a newcomer to the world of 6BR and just come here to Accurate Shooter to learn a few things about my latest interest. I had AW spin me up a new tube with a no-turn neck and was curious to see if anyone had seen a noticeable benefit to turning.

I've turned many necks for other tight neck rifles but have come to prefer a no-turn chamber and high quality brass.
