6 br neck turning question

Boyd,

I just won the NBRSA 3 Gun (One of the most coveted titles in Short range Benchrest). I was shooting a no turn neck with my 6PPC. Also made the World Team.

The 6BRA IS A 272 neck. The 6PPC is a 273.

.0120 should give you 100% clean up. But you might to go a little thicker for a no neck turn chamber. This is a deep deep rabbit hole.

My last batch of Lapua brass (purchased probably a couple/few years back) for my long range barrel was turned to a target of .0125". Ended up being about 70-90% of the circumference on a majority of the brass. Some as little as 30-40%, a few at 100%.
Surprised me.

@BartsBullets if you don’t mind answering, does your noturn chambers in the PPC have any advantages other than not having to turn the necks?

Well let me think. Since the necks are thicker you can get a pretty good grip on boattail bullets. They tend to last longer than turned neck.

Other than that I can’t think of anything.

Yep.... its got one of the best shooters behind it.

I don’t know about that. For some reason it just works. I talked a buddy of mine into trying it and he did very well at the NBRSA Nationals with it.
