Mag kit to feed .221 fireball from AICS short action mag

I've been looking into the .221 fireball, but from my reading the feeding from regular short action magazine is not working.

Has anyone already been trying to design some form of mag kit to solve the problem?

Something like a BR mag kit but in .223 format.

This should solve the problem isn't?

You might contact MDT and ask. They recently released a Steel 223 magazine that is basically a 308 body with an insert for 223. One of the features is an extension of the feed lips to help guide shorter cartridges.

I have used this magazine with 300 Blackout loaded as short as 2.00” with no problems feeding.

Here is polymer version

I used CZ 221 Fireball magazines, and built a mag carrier to hold them in a Tikka CTR magazine shape. Works great for me. I now have a 20 VarTarg repeater. (based on fireball cases)

I run 221 AI through a bighorn action with regular MDT mags. I had to install a deflector plate because it throws the brass forward.

I received an email saying they answered a question I asked, but I've checked and it is not showing in the Q&A section on their website.

What I received is:

Q:Have they been tried / proven with .221 fireball?

A:Thank you for the question. Yes, 221 fireball will feed from our 223 metal magazines.

What about the magpul aics 223? It has offset feed lips that they suggest will give more contact between the bolt and cartridge.

I use the Ruger AI style polymer 223 mags for my VarTarg, they are the best feeding mags that I've tried in my chassis. The feed lips come forward more than any mag I've tried which is why they feed so well.
