My 13 Year Olds First Antelope

After 4 days and 28 miles of backpacking and hiking we finally got on a goat and she was able to harvest her first one at 405 yards with her 6.5x55 Swede Ackley that I built for her and @RiflePainter cerakoted the stock and barreled action for her.

It was a fun trip driving across country from VA to Wyoming stopping at as many attractions along the way. I’ve made the trip several times with buddies and we hardly ever stop and drive straight through so it was fun to take it easy on the way out because it was not an easy hunt when we got to Wyoming. She was a trooper the entire time and didn’t complain about climbing in and out of steep hills or fussing about the fact that we just wasn’t seeing a lot of antelope. We had a few opportunities the first couple of days but just couldn’t close the gap before they got on private land or couldn’t get an ethical shot so we kept hunting until this guy showed up.

In case you’re wondering she reloads her own rounds and has done very well in 600 yard competitions. She has now harvested whitetails, Roosevelt elk, fallow deer, and now an antelope. Now she wants a mule deer so I guess we will be planning a hunt for next year
