Success!! We (my dad and i) got 2 does and a fawn Oct. 7, i shot my two does at 486 yards with the 338 Lapua and 280 grain Barnes LRX, first shot was a perfect double lung, she ran about 20 yards and fell over, then the other one the wind picked up a bit and i gut shot her but she stayed there so i shot again, this time adjusting for the wind but held a little too much and hit her in the neck, Needless to say it was a BOOM-flop.
It was 486 yards as the Barnes bullet flies but about 650 yards as the hunters drag.
We saw a buck top over a ridge so we thought he might have some does on the other side and is looking for a couple more since they are rutting. We went over and looked over the ridge and saw nothing, then i looked behind us toward the truck and saw two fawns that were walking towards the buck. So we hightailed it to a small gully and my dad got set up with the 25-06 and 100 grain ttsx, the two fawns came in at 183 yards, he shot and it was a bang flop. She was angleing towards us a little but It was high shoulder shot that exited about half way back between front and rear leg.
