Chamber flush system build log.

That's a good idea. Because I know that's exactly how I'm going to make a huge mess. I'll slide the tailstock into the pan and... sploosh.

Maybe you could use those bolt holes to secure a T type nut, then attach to the pan, a rail with T-slot, etc?

I actually have a homemade slide lock held in place with those bolts... It's a 3/4 inch piece of steel that comes up flush with the cross slide. I could drill and tap that... and bolt the pan to it. If it leaks a little bit, no big deal.

I use a big switchable magnet put inside of the pan, flick it on and it holds it down on top of the cross slide. Use rare earth magnets to catch chips as well.

Heh, I had a large noga mag base in the pan while I was sorting things out and thought "huh, that works pretty well!"

Very nice job on the flush system!

Like others, I use rare earth magnets to hold catch pan in place. It also doubles for catching chips.

Can't disagree with that. I'm thinking through a clever way to clamp or strap it down.
On the front of the pan I put an L bracket that bolts to a short length of 1" angle that is bolted to the carriage.

I will take a better pic.

If @LVLAaron does it like I did it on the 1440GT at work, he will cut couple of chambers, make a mess, then fix it. THEN I will copy his system for my 1340 GT at home.

All that said, the chip pan of the 1440 GT works well to catch fluid.

I use the lathe for so much other stuff I dont want to contaminate my chambering fluids with anything in the pan.

Also... I have a raincoat ready for those first few chambers ;)

I had to modify some of my stuff. Can't recall exact pitch, but my dueblin union had a true "britsh" pitch on the one side. Luckily, I have a British lathe and made up a coupler.

I also made barrel coupler. Pressure has gotten to 80lbs+ with no issues. I tighten them by hand and give a half turn on each bolt. Holds very tight.

20220119_132150.jpgI also used a universal filter mount that came with a goofy pitch filter adapter. Again, machined a common thread filter adapter. Oil filters are relatively cheap. My setup isn't glamorous but works extremely well.

Don't judge mys setup in that video... it's the only trash barrel I had long enough to reach the outboard spider.

I put the pump on a foot pedal, so that's handy in case of an emergency. Drilling and tapping the muzzle for NPT is a real chore but it feels like it's going to be worth it. It's really nice to not have chips packing the shallow flutes.

I've got some silicon hose coming in 1 and 3/4 ID sizes so I can make some "clamp over barrel" attachments so I don't always have to drill/tap the muzzle end.

This is... fabulous.
Looks great..I have different size hose's to suite different diameter barrels also tubes tig welded to threaded fittings which screw on to my feed pipe.the tubes are a snug fit inside the hoses.a jubilee clip on tube and barrel and we are good to go.

I have a needle valve on my air line. It's set to allow a small amount of air to pass when I hit the foot valve. Then I open it up after blowing out most of the oil. A tin can in the right hand works great as a catch can when you apply air.

Yep adding air is a bit like . . Nothing. . . Nothing . . . .nothing . . . Ffpppsssssshhhhhffffffpppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . . . . $h!+!!!! Where did input my snorkel?!

That's exactly what happened. As soon as the hose was mostly clear it flew out and gave my shop TV a nice coat of oil. :)
