Lucas Red-n-Tacky, or really any good grease, moly or lithium based, to about 75lb/ft.
I used white anti-seize for a long time. Never a problem from any lube I've used in this application. I did like the white, as it is a lot less messy than aluminum anti-seize, fwiw.

Agree with the Red-N-Tacky, but 60# works for me.

On a good barrel / action, tight is tight. You'll know when it's done by feel.

Comparing a Savage action to say a BAT, is like comparing a Maserati to a Dodge Neon, both will get the job done but the quality and workmanship can't be used in the same book let alone the same sentence.

I was looking for an answer to how the threads looked between the two.

I have had a barrel come loose when I did it by feel. So I started doing all my own stuff to 70 ft lbs.

At work, I follow BAT Machine recommendations of 75 ft lbs for competition rifles and 125 ft lbs for all others. With grease.

Lubriplate grease on threads, 80#. Easy on easy off.

I wasn't looking for an argument, what I said has meaning, there is a huge difference in quality between custom action makers and Savage, only reason I'm mentioning Savage is that's who you referenced. Instead of thinking my response was "stupid" maybe you should take the time yourself and compare the two.

Savage builds a quality product, it just isn't in the same league as the top action builders, that's all.

Whatever 1/2" click type torque wrench is closest to me. I have a few.

7 year old craftsman and a craftsman my father bought new. He died in 1962 so it was bought before that. The 60+ year old one is easier and faster to use.

I still have a beam Sturtevant from the 60’s, and maybe 12 others acquired over the years including a couple made by Boeing ( long past their recalibration date) and a really wild Snap-On with light and buzzers.
All that’s needed is decent one.
Mine where required by the company and way over the top for this application. But I’m also a sucker for nice tools.

I am just wondering how to fit a torque wrench on to my action wrench. Is there an adapter?
