Do it yourself Stock making thread

?????????
I thought you got some dyes??
Dang, you’re a little slow on the pick up. You into that whiskey again? I’ve dropped enough hints. This is your stock I’m making. Last year you dropped a comment: “I wish they’d make a stock where the flat went further back” so I made it for you. I ran out of time last fall but I didn’t forget.
My little mannlicher Maple stock is in limbo waiting for the bottom metal. I bought the dies for that one. I have another one coming along for Dusty. I’m trying to clear out the backlog!

As a matter of fact I have had a sip of Buffalo Trace corn liquor with Rye Barley......
126 proof!! Its been 1 of those days where I needed something to wash down the strawberry lemonade the wife had ready for me when I got home from work.

Josh to say I'm speechless would be an understatement.
I've always admired your skills and craftsmanship, not to mention your thoughtfulness of your fellow man.
Dude you freakin ROCK!!

You’re welcome. I used some of that nice figured mohagany for the forend accent. Remember the 6.5 Swede I did with it. It should add something.

How heavy are the boards??
What’s a hen weigh? Fat one?
Ok. As is, they feel about 1/3 heavier than walnut, twice as heavy as maple and a little heavier than Mesquite . Equal to be yellow pine old growth dense, Purple Heart or Padauk.

Are you going to add carbon fibre stringers into aswell Josh when glueing up ??
No, not on a hunter. Actually, I’ve never used it in any stock. I don’t know where to get it, anyway. I’m pretty slow on picking up new trends.

I use it all my fclass for stocks between the laminates I do and also the full length of the barrel channel to the back of the action area. Then glass the outside of the stock before painting

Cool. A while back, I dabbled with the thought of using it. When I did some looking, there were so many different weaves and weights(thicknesses) that I gave up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Alright Bc’z. I ignored my stock , worked on yours today and got it as far as I can take it without your action in hand. The insides are ready for bedding. I cut the rear pillar so I could chisel out for the trigger guard depth. I’ll include it along with another uncut pillar for the front. Not sure if you want a scutcheon.
I suck at metal work. I can rough cut a hunk of 1/4” aluminum for the butt plate or I could make one out of ebony, Mohagany or rosewood. Let me know.
I dare not cut for the bolt knob or port without the action bedded, so I leave that for you. I’m sure you can handle that. I can loan you the tools if you need them.;)E974F3EC-4F2D-46D3-A4FC-7585A39C60CC.jpeg8E74F808-2977-4461-9F4C-0393F53A625D.jpeg7F682DCA-CB0B-4124-AB5D-927485192F2D.jpeg

Josh it looks amazing!!
I'll forward you Zack's @WSMNUT address, we've already been discussing what to do.
I believe a Defiance action Hawk Hill barrel, Jewl trigger, rudder and butt plate are in order. He'll probably have @Hntndad do pillars and bedding and final shaping of tang and bolt slot.
I believe I still have your number, ill shoot you a text.

I just can't stop looking at this beautiful piece.
