Sure, if you consider 2250fps close to 2500fpsMy 338 with 265 solids at 3700fps would be close.
Lol!

The guys at Redstone did it many years ago.
At my common DA it would be more like 2450ishSure, if you consider 2250fps close to 2500fps
Shot Marker system. Gives you vel, ES, SD, and group size.Curiousity question... how would one even measure velocity of a round at 1000 yards? See where the specific grain weight bullet hits the gound, then calc est. speed @1,000 yds, based on that info? Or see drop at 1,000 yards vs. say 300 yds, and calc est speed? Or send a guy down range to hold a chrony that you shoot thru?
And a very interesting barrel life!In theory, the best I can come up with is a 22-460 Weatherby shooting 95 smk at 3,800 fps, be around 2,100 fps at a grand. And around 2,400 fps at a grand when at 5,000 ft altitude.
In Theory.
That is pretty close. Where do you shoot??At my common DA it would be more like 2450ish
Oregon and WashingtonThat is pretty close. Where do you shoot??

Weight has nothing to do with it just find a light pill that has a bc of 1.00 or better load and shoot .I’ve heard of some .50bmg loadings that can maintain those kinds of speed at 1000yards, but what about something that’s not so heavy?
Yes.Do you use software for this? That’s an impressive calculation.
Everyone sure does like to pick on the creed, but surprisingly there is something pretty remarkable about it that many other cartridges don't have today...yep, brass is something that is more readily available as are bullets. Seems with all the Ninja Paper Punchers that bought into the creed also stocked up on reloading supplied to the max, so there actually some powder, brass, bullets, and some of those guys even stocked up on primers.Oh heck yeah ,… there’s nothing a creedmoor can’t do!…..

I think you missed the point!…. There’s nothing wrong with a creedmoor I have a 6.5 and two 6 creedmoor rifles the problem is there not a true Benchrest cartridge , there not a true long range cartridge and there not a hard hitting big game hunting cartridge yet you you ask many new shooters what are you shooting?….. they puff there chest up and announce a “creedmoor “ woooo I’m sorry I didn’t know wow that’s cool!….it’s like when you ask a guy what ya got under the hood? And he immediately puffs his chest out ….. you think he’s got something cool in there like a 421 cubic inch lycoming straight 8 out of a 1929 Deusenburg or something and he proudly announces I’ve GOT A 350 Chevy!!!….. That’s the most over rated under doing motor on the planet and so is the 6.5 creedmoor!…. It’s over rated and under doing!….Everyone sure does like to pick on the creed, but surprisingly there is something pretty remarkable about it that many other cartridges don't have today...yep, brass is something that is more readily available as are bullets. In a way the fact there is so much of it out there makes it not a bad choice.
I was recently going to change a build to 6.5 PRC from 6.5 Creedmoor, but I soon realized that it's almost impossible to find brass, powder, dies, bullets, etc...and I have all of that for creed as I had planned this build a few years ago when you could find stuff.
Irony is that the one cartridge that seems to be the most plentiful is 308, and I have piles of once fired match brass...it is what I would use for hunting or defense.
Go ahead, make fun of the creed folks, me included, but I have what I need and at least some supplies are actually available online, several places have Nosler and Hornady brass in creed! I recently bought both brass and bullets for creed in the classifieds.
I've calculated it out and It'll cost me about $0.80/ea for match reloads using Lapua brass (calc'd 8 reloads per case), Hornady ELD-Ms, and H4350. Even a poor guy like me can afford that.
Now, 2500 fps at 1000 yards...I don't think so...but that .17 Incinerator looks cool!![]()
No, I don't think I missed the point...in fact I agree. I kinda feel like a dolt in a way, as I did believe some of the hype, and even recently saw a video by that dolt over at the Sniper's Chide shooting 224 Valkyrie to 2000 yards...and silly me question the Grand Poobah over there, I was quickly banned for asking why the main discussion was about factory 6.5 creed ammo, asking why ELR shooters wouldn't be reloading their own?I think you missed the point!…. James Packard was asked one time why don’t you have any brochures or advertising on your cars?…. He proudly said why?…… ask a man who owns one!…. Many creedmoor owners are the same way…… there mighty creedmoor can do anything….. if your in doubt ask one who owns one

What do you have against the tactical shrimp? No, I don't think I missed the point...in fact I agree. This is to say, the Sniper's Chide is one of the primary reasons some of these beliefs exit. It does no service to the long range shooting community, or even the precision shooting community, IMO. It's a game he plays as that's his business model, selling monthly subs to that crowd.
I'll also be honest, you guys are above my shooting pay grade. This is kinda getting off topic for this thread, the creed can't get 2500 fps at 1000 yards, but the 6 creed without a doubt has better BCs. If one is shooting to 1000, that's probably a better caliber. >1000 the 6.5 creed would shine.
I mentioned, I wanted to build a 6.5 PRC, mainly as I have a small action AICS chassis, and I'd probably rather have a stock, but I have what I have and don't want to spend too much $$$s. There is a private 200 yard range in the county I will retire, and that could work out for the 6.5 creed I have. A private range could be nice, locked gate for 8:00am-Dusk access to members.
RE: BB 421, straight 8 or a 350 or other SBC or BB V.
I'm working on a '46 Chevy 3100, it has an inline 6...
