I found primers! No thanks

My local gun shop that carries reloading supplies finally got in some primers. They were the place that I purchased the last cci 450 primers approximately 2 years ago at $38.00 for 1k. Well I was pretty excited until I asked how much. $14.99 per 100. They did tell me I could purchase 1000 if I would like.

Rather than think about the high prices / brick, I mentally amortize the higher component costs into a $ / range trip.

Let's say it's an extra $100 / brick. 1K primers will last for 20 long range days, I usually shoot 50 or so. It's an added $5 per trip. I would almost always opt to pay an extra $5 to go to the range than not go.

We all have different justifications and means, but I can drag out 1K of primers for a long time.

Yes since Ive made it to my 60s before the big increases in primer prices, I should divide all the money ive spent on primers in my whole life by how many primers I have received for that money and see the average price I have paid for primers in my life. I bet its not so much. I always wondered how they could sell primers for a penny apiece. Now i guess I gotta make up for some of that. Its still difficult for me to pay $600.00 for 5K primers.

Not available here at any price, at least the shops of visit in Eastern PA.

Right now, I'm at DEF CON 3 - rationing range practice. i.e., 10 rounds per range visit - conserving for varmint hunting. :(

I might have to move to DEF CON 2 sometime this year if I don't find any primers. DEF CON 2 = no range practice - just scope setting verification - the balance of components restricted for hunting use only. :(:( Lots of dry fire practice, however.

I should be able to make through this year without having to move to DEF CON 1, which = ground hog watching, no hunting- no shooting.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Well not being a ass but shooting must not be nearly as important to you as it is to me. I would have 1000 shiny new primers on my loading bench. Fortunately I lived through several shortages so after Obammy I stocked back up and have enough for quite some time but if I was out I would pay the price!…. I bought Varget and 4350 the other day $369.99 for each 8lb jug with tax $400 a jug I walked out with 4 I didn’t like it but I have plenty now

Bought another 10,000 cci primers today.
To help replace the ones I shot up...Just bought a new glock 42 in less than a month have a thousand rds through it, with all the nasty weather...all hand loads. 50, 75, 90, 95, 100, &115...also trying lots of different foreign primers that have come available...so far only the Argentina mil spec hard cup primers have average 2 in 100 that don't go bang the first time with the striker fired Glock...but that may be a seating problem with the press, that had a small piece of steel broken off the seating stem...so I changed over to the Dillon, and getting normal seating.

Over here we paying around $100 a 1000 Federals but the shocker to me anyway and I take it this must be some "new" stock that came in, +- $150 for a 1000 CCI BR primers. Doubled in price over the last couple months. At least they are available and we also have Magtech, S&B, Fiocchi and one or 2 Russian primers to use if we want at half that price

I am finding some CCI's , but they are in lots of 5000 at $599 including shipping. Thats $120/1000. I am afraid that is the going price. If they get large rifle 200's, I'll spring. I keep watching and at least CCI's are starting to show up. Waiting for Berger bullets to show up now. Just made an offer for a PCP air rifle.

Federal 205M, small rifle match primers are the ones that all my loads are based on.

However, Remington 7 1/2 and or CCI small rifle primers will do, can't be choosing these days. :(

Checked four shops in the Berks and Lebanon county areas, no one has any as of last week nor do they know when they'll receive any from their distributor.
Don’t you worry! Have you forgotten? I haven’t! I have your box of primers sitting on my desk, fresh from Butch Lambert in Texas. I stopped by and had a nice visit with him, on my way back from Kerrville. I think, tho, that I’ll keep them and give you some others I have. Butch’s are Small Rifle Magnum primers. I think I have some Federals. Let me go look....... Hmmm.....I have these:

Will they do? Not Ms, but......
I also found the Varget you were seeking but I saw where you found a pound. I found it for $40/lb. Want more? I just need to find the time to get it to you.

Keep checking PV daily multiple times if you can. I found some CCI 400 SR primers a few weeks ago. Bought 2K. $75 a brick.
