Rem 700 extractor broke, just cut the bolt for Mini M16 extractor?

Proper installation is paramount on anything
I or the ones that fool with my rigs are far far from heavy handed club fisted blacksmiths;-).
I found it no less than frustrating that both the replacement parts did the exact same thing. The original factory was dropping cases. My problem is solved and I am very happy with it.

I hope the OP has success with his replacement part.

Jim Borden sells Sako extractors, and Badger sells M-16 style extractors. Quality of either of these vendors product are you beyond question.

I asked Remington if their extractors are available:

RE: [EXTERNAL] Remington 700 extractor?
Thank you for contacting RemArms, LLC,

RemArms, LLC. is a newly formed company that acquired the Remington firearms division from Remington Outdoors Company. RemArms will be producing Remington branded firearms at the historic Ilion, NY facility where Remington has been produced for more than 200 years. Our website, www.remarms.com. is now online.

The existing supply of parts for Remington firearms is currently limited to inventory already in the marketplace.

RemArms is not currently accepting orders for gun parts and will be unable to do so until our parts supply has been replenished through supply chain re-engagement and/or new manufacturing capacity. As RemArms ramps up production of Remington firearms, availability of parts for firearms that are produced by RemArms LLC is expected to improve.

I look forward to updates on the subject.
The two I had would cut a notch in the rim when chambering.
Mine works perfectly...after fiting ...it's not usually a drop in. If yours is cutting into the rim, it may need a little work or champer on the end...or you need to open the diameter of the barrel counterbore where the bolt and barrel are a close fit...as the m16 extractor has to snap over the cartridge rim in doing so intrudes slightly outside the bolt diameter, into the solid steel of the barrel counterbore without enough clearance, pushs right through the rim of the case...marking it ..

I had a known smith mess up a Sako extractor conversion, well one of his employees at least. Had to get a new bolt. Go with the simplest, easiest fix. An extra extractor or 2 is cheap and easy to fix in the field just in case.

In my case the rifle was older and seen some use as an across the course rifle and it was probably the original extractor so it held up even after close to 2000 rounds after I bought it used.
