PT&G bolt ??

I need a new bolt for a Rem 700 short action. It has the the "J" bolt firing pin. I am going to have my gunsmith fit a new PT&G 1 piece bolt. My question is...What would you prefer as the extractor, Mini M16 or Sako ?? I have read before where a lot of folks are having better success the mini M16 style. What are your opinions...pros and cons ?? Also, any likes or dislikes on the types of fluting ??
Thanx again,
Rmist

What to also add...What about the firing pin ? What's the biggest difference between the steel 2 piece at 075" and the aluminum 062" ? Besides the obvious !! :)

Why Not just replace the J Lock system with a complete Firing Pin assembly from PTG for around $50.00, lots cheaper than the $275 for a new bolt system from PTG.

I agree with Blair the M-16 extractor is a better alternative. Remember the counter bore needs to be opened up to .715 to provide enough clearance, it is not just a drop in situation. The head space needs to be checked and adjusted any time one changes a bolt.

The PTG bolt is an excellent replacement to the stock Remington bolt . You can order a custom bolt diameter too , as the old Remington bolt has a lot of slop to it . I replaced mine with a .700" diameter and the fit is excellent ! If you're doing a BR or 6PPC with a small primer pocket , don't forget to order an .062" bolt firing pin hole and the .062" firing pin assembly . The Sako extractor is very dependable but the M16 is as good . I have both and there doesn't seem to be an advantage one over the other . BTW , the small diamond flutes look excellent on the short action bolt !

i think there is a lot of BS flying around the internet concerning the sako extractors. I have personally welded a piece of brass to the bolt nose where it had to be hammered out and have not had issue with the sako. when you open up the bolt recess to .785 for the mini16 extractor, you allow a lot more room for gas and brass to come back in your face. don't shy away from the sako. they have been used with success in remingtons for decades by the BR guys who tend to run on the ragged edge.
