VietNam War Veterans Day- TODAY

Thank you for your sacrifice. There are still folks like me that truly respect our veterans and active military personnel. I read a lot of books about Nam. People in America (us civilians) think we have courage. That's a joke compared to what I've read. I know a couple of vets and they don't talk about it and I never pressed them to.
One of the vets I know did say that John Kerry got like 3 purple hearts, all from scratches. Said one time they blew a rice cache and he was a little too close. He got a grain of rice under his skin like a splinter, and got a purple heart for it. Probably wasn't as bad as a centipede bite.

Warmest Greetings and Respect to all Vietnam Veterans.
I too was there (1968-69) with 161 Battery, Royal New Zealand Artillery (Battery Surveyor/FO party).
Yes, us Kiwis were there with you, and our Aussie mates.
Met a few of you over there but time has dulled the names, faces, etc.
We had some US 155mm beside us at Nui Dat base camp. Forgotten who/what though.
We 'entertained' quite a few folks from there in our wee mess room. I think they all enjoyed themselves.
There was beer, some more beer, and guitar playing, and more beer and singing if I remember correctly.
Just a mixed group of young men, from different countries, in a strange place, doing a strange job, but bonded by the circumstances.
Take care guys.
Regards to all.

Thank you to all the veterans, and their families for sacrificing for us. No worries most of the country can recognize the difference between hero's and zeroes. The actions of ACTORS will never be honored by the majority, just look at the ratings. What the few saw was acting, fake, staged, unlike the actions of our brothers, sisters, dad's,moms, uncles and aunts who fought and served for the individual freedoms and the greatest country. Vote and stand straight for the constitutional republic of the United States of America. Our veterans deserve nothing less from we the people.

same goes for JOHN KERRY who went there with her.
John Kerry is a decorated Viet Nam vet. Dispite his anti-war stance he joined and fought. You claim to honor Viet Nam vets with this thread then post disrespect. Same crap I have been witnessing since I came back to the world.

Vietnam War is a little stale now, don't ya think? 20yrs of Afghanistan, and after OIF 1-3, I think the time for bitching is over!
