Are you for real? People buy more gas on a daily basis than a stupid brick of primers. How could you even compare buying the two? I mean how many bricks of primers do people buy in a year compared to how many gallons of gas people buy per year? How can u seriously even consider comparing the two.Price of fuel???? No comparison to the price of primers. Fuel prices will go down, primers maybe not.
Ditto. I drove from Detroit, MI to Tullahoma, TN last weekend. Left Sunday at 530am, drove 687 miles that day, stayed in a hotel Sunday night, shot in the rain on Monday morning, then drove the 687 miles home Monday starting about 345pm, Just to shoot a 3x1000. I met some great guys, but my girlfriend and others I know think I should have my head checked….some days I think I should as well, lol.Jay
You’re lucky to have so many places to enjoy this sport within that four hour drive, i get six weekends total in a calendar year driving four hours and pay motel fees to boot.
Jim
I have a match to go to EVERY Sat & most Sundays for the next 8 months.
My limits are at 4 hr drive one way.
Kracken,The bad thing is I think we have elected and sent some good candidates from both sides to DC. Corruption and greed overpowers them all. We should have always had term limits to be able to clean house when they turn corrupt.
Jimmymac.....15 matches about 2 hours away from you at Anderson Creek, love to have you join the fun.Count you blessings man, even if you have to cut back some. The ability to shoot every Saturday and most Sundays for 8 months of year would be awesome for a working stiff like me.
If I get to 10 matches total this year, I'll be doing good.
I know Jimmy chases UBR points, But add in the groundJimmymac.....15 matches about 2 hours away from you at Anderson Creek, love to have you join the fun.
We enjoy having you. I am interested in the Elf when it's together. Chasing points can be pretty expensive. Then you and 50 other people out of 220,000,000 are interested. Then, 80 percent of the 50 hate you because you beat them. We need to get Jimmymac involved.I know Jimmy chases UBR points, But add in the ground
hog and deer shoots, with some stiff competition; what's not
to like. Cheap date, free food, and a chance to get some cash
back. I try to get there twice a month.
Ya me and Jim Cline were figuring out how much it cost him per match vs me and he's spends a lot more than I do and really in the end what do u get out of this? Other than shooting against some of your friends and fellow competitors not really much. In our game your not shooting for money. (Only a few places offer money instead of a plaque but the Tackdriver is a money payout match). This is an expensive game to get into, more expensive than people realize. I was talking to Boyer about this. He said I'd win 3K at the Supershoot and I lost more than that for the whole week between taking off a weeks worth of work, gas for his motorhome, registration fee's for him and Faye, food, it goes on and on. If I went to the 2-3 Nationals in Orangeburg, SC this year it is a 2500 mile round trip. With my motorhome I get roughly 17MPG. Say last year I paid 3 bucks a gallon for gas. It cost me 441 bucks for 147 gallons for 2500 miles. This year at 4 bucks a gallon it will cost me 588. If I took my other motorhome that I bought from Boyer, it gets 8MPG and for the same trip it would cost me $1248.00, almost double. Would it be worth it to me even if I won both aggs and the Grand Agg? HELL NO! I like this game I just don't love it. The way this benchrest sport is heading, we are all a bunch of passenger's on the Titanic.I was figuring gas to the Tack Driver shoot if I used my
son's motor home that downhill gets 6 mpg. It has a 50
gallon tank. So from my place to Orangeburg SC, and back,
I'd need a minimum of 5 tank fills. That's 250 gallons and
figuring 4 bucks.....That's about a grand. But no hotels
and bring your own food and beer. Pick up a few shooters
on the way, and cut that fuel cost drastically. Erie to
Orangeburg is about 700 miles. Thinking out loud again.
