Teslong Borescope Info Re: WiFi Unit

I know the Teslong topic has been beat to death, but before I order one, I had two questions that I could not find addressed in earlier posts.
I am considering the WiFi unit and one of the ones that comes with a video viewer. I was wondering, from someone who has, or has used the WiFi unit, is there any degradation of the image when WiFi is used, vs when a direct cable version is used. Also, if you use your iPhone or iPad with the borescope, are you able to take photos while you are using it, or can you only view it live. I’m older and not a super tech savvy person, just looking for a little info before I buy.
Thanks so much for any information.
Scott

Thank you. Is it hard to set up, recalling that I am not real tech savvy.

I have four units - original flex cord, improved flex cord, rigid rifle and WiFi rigid handgun models. When using the WiFi, the pictures are sharp and clear. Viewing through my Android phone I can take pictures easily and they turn out clean and sharp. I would recommend that you also get the mirror assortment pack as well. The mirror that comes on the unit is for .20-caliber and larger. This works well up to maybe .244 caliber bores, but larger bores area greater range of bore sizes. harder to focus on. The mirror set provides you with a variety of sizes to more closely match your bores.
Setup is pretty easy. On most laptops, just plug it in and then open your built-in camera on the laptop. Choose the Teslong unit from the laptop camera app and you are off and running. Phones require downloading a free app (listed in the instructions) to use to view or take pictures. If using WiFi, you need to install a free app called MoView (Teslong may have newer recommendations by now) to control the camera and laptop. Easier than I probably make it sound.
Unless things have changed, you will need the WiFi model for your iPhone. Unlike Androids, they don't provide enough voltage to power the unit if plugged in to the phone. I actually seldom use the WiFi unit. I have an old chromebook sitting on a shelf above my cleaning bench and just plug the various units into it. Nice clean pictures. I have also tested the units on various Windows laptops (several Windows versions) with no problems.

I would probably get the WIFI unit if I could go back, requiring it to be plugged into the laptop means I have to drag my laptop near my rifle bench, which sometimes means risking cleaning solvents or whatever similar things getting on it, or just the fact that I have to both manuever where the laptop sits in relation to the bore scope itself and the rifle.

It is nice though, to do the bore scoping on a larger screen while it happens real time, so there are pros and cons to both models.

I'm falling behind a bit on the latest electronic gadgets, but the Teslong WIFI on my Iphone was a breeze. Sharp pictures, but when I sent a video of a bore to a friend, he said it was heavily pixelated.

He probably tried to blow it up too much, or else his device isn't the best. Pictures and videos from the Teslong are pretty much high resolution. Towards the bottom of the page on their website in the WiFi handgun version of the device (NTG150PW 10-inch-long Wi-Fi Pistol Borescope (For iOS)) in use (2 S&Ws, 2 Rugers) came from my Samsung phone taking pictures of the display on my laptop...kind of a double-whammy. Even with being essentially a picture of a picture sent as a file and back to picture form, the display is crisp and clear. https://teslong.com/

Video tends to be pretty large. If you sent it to your friend via, say, SMS text messaging (the normal text), it was likely compressed to the point of unusability to get it small enough to fall within the sms size restrictions.

Email will be better, but you'll still run into size restrictions between different ISP's (usually at the 5 Mb range, but it depends on who you're dealing with.)

Best bet for large files is to share them via a web portal (Dropbox, for instance, works if it's small enough to fit within their free storage range or you pay for more storage.)

Thank you. I also have fallen behind on tech stuff. I guess I could get

Thats what happened. I sent in a text

Wow!!! They are sending me another one!!

Turns out it has a short at the connector right at the LED.
Excellent! I hoped it would be that way. I used to be in regular contact with Joanna at Teslong until she left for another job. I know they were trying very hard to be customer friendly and really serve the market. They were always asking for ideas to make them better and three of my units were sent to me for evaluation of their changes and additions.

Need help setting up wifi telsong on I phone 12. any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the power source for the Teslong is charged. You have to download an app called "Mo-View" which is free in the Apple store. Power up the Teslong, and then go to the wireless setting on your iPhone and select the corresponding Teslong wireless network. (This will disconnect you from your wireless internet). Once that is connected, launch the "Mo-View" app and you should be in business.
