300 SAUM Imp. 600/1000yd HG

Seems like I have been building as many of these HGs as LGs lately. This one was built on my heavy fill LRB stock, with some weight added as well as a steel rudder and butt plate. Action is a dual port Bat M glued and screwed, with my usual bolt and ignition work. Trigger is a B&A. The barrel is a 1.450" straight Krieger chambered in my 300 SAUM Imp. #2 with a Harrell's brake. Ended up 35 pounds as pictured. Balances 1/2" in front of the action and will end up a little farther back once the scope is mounted.

90% of the time it will come out good the first try, every once in a while I will wipe them off and do it over. This one fought me. We have been doing these type of paint jobs for a good 5 years now and I still cant make the pattern do what I want every time. Thinning the paint, adjusting the booth temp, you name it, it always come out different every time. But I think thats what people like about it. I like the vertical pattern myself because I can control it better. But, Im mostly interested in the targets :).

Well I hope you remembered what you did, because you're sure to get more calls for it.
Temperature, solvent selection and reduction, and even the type of plastic used to wrap it all seems to come into play. And that's why the word PAIN is in paint! LOL
You did great on this one.

Super color, I’ll bet that looks great out in the sun.
I noticed a black hole near the trigger guard, what is that for ?
