Marlin Mod 60, 22 LR. This one was my Father's. When he passed we divied up his guns. My sis got this one, 1996 was the year. Not sure when my Dad bought it, but the serial dates it to 1983, which is the first year of Marlin w/o the Glenfield designation. Also has the 18 round magazine. As far as I know my Dad didn't shoot it much as he kept it at his cabin. My sis put it away and forgot she even had it. I called her, and "borrowed " it. It had the Tasco 4X15 pencil scope on it and hit the mark still. I replaced it with a Nikon scope. Took a while to figure out the bolt lock back. Need to clean the bore and oil it a bit. Looking forward to hunting small game with it.

I just took it apart for a cleaning and lube. Found the buffer in two pieces. Got two on order. Then I bent the recoil spring. MCarbo has a high speed replacement.
Those recoil springs are a pain to get back in without bending at first. I have one that is slightly bent, but still works. I have two Glenfield 60’s that were bought at pawn shops too.

I bought a Glenfield from a co workers fathers estate, it had resided at a cabin most of the time. 30.00 and it came with a baggie of shells. My brother needed critter protection at his farm house so the Glenfield is in the country again, he said he could use some more shells.

Great little shooter! Just gave my nephew one of my old ones for Christmas. Took the scope off to make him learn iron sights first. Then he can step up to the scope. He is 10 and at a good age to start learning!

My first gun was a Marlin model 60. I remember my father picking it up for me. I must of been 8-9 years old. I was happy to say the least. He passed away in 1996. Out of all the guns distributed to us the first one he gave me is the most important. Almost 30 years later it sits in my safe waiting for my son to come of age. It will be his first gun. And I hope it goes on and on.

I still have my Marlin 600 I bought in 1987. I have never have found out what is different between a 60 and a 600! if you put them next to each other, they are Identical!

I have my grandpa's 60 in the safe. It also had a busted buffer and chrome was flaking off the feed throat. Replaced those and the recoil spring and firing pin and spring. Shoots great now. This will be one for my boys after they outgrow the CZ scout.

Dad has the Glenfield with the squirrel stock. It was the first 22 I shot.

Love the 60.

Marlin Model 600 – Made specially for Big 5 Sporting Goods between 1986 and 1989. This model is very rare because of the short production run. Came with a durable gold-plated metal trigger instead of the standard polymer trigger, and a stainless steel breech bolt in lieu of the blue steel breech bolt on the model 60. Production number for the model 60 and all variance is over 11 million. Making it one of the highest production rifle of all time.

Thanks! I did buy it from Big5 during that time.

My wife worked at the Pasadena Texas Carter's Country sporting goods store in about 1990 or so She bought from a customer a Glenfield model 60, with the squirrel for about 45.00$. I moved to Montana in 1992. It sits by my back door I have used it to dispatch porcupine, coon, skunk, coyote and even a rattler or two in the dead of night. Best 45.00$ she ever spent. My dogs think so too.
