wiping bore between bullet brand changes ?

Okie dokie. My bad on manufacture vs distributor. I was just curious on the offending action by Capstone, but if you don’t want to respond in an open forum on grievances posted, that is one’s personal choice.

Lol ! Eley sucks nowadays, imo.
Now that's an attack on a manufacturer !
Actually it's the bind of not being able to test then buy ... Kinda got me in a lurch. I'm normally eley only.

I went to Lapua test center in Ohio and got what they had but it's poor.
I was contacted by another shooter and bought some from him that's better.
2200.oo later i have some so so & some decent ammo.

Creedmoor Sports sells a foam tipped cleaning device with a plastic green tube attached. You thread the plastic tube thru your chamber and out the muzzle and pull it thru your barrel. I do not use these on different manufactures bullets, but label them with the manufacture and 2 passes and I am ready to go with a different one. It still takes a few shots to season the bore with the next brand but it seams to shorten the amount in my rifles. I deep clean with patches and solvent only when accuracy begins to degrade or every January before the start of my shooting season. So far only one of my rifles prefers Ten-X, and one Lapua, RWS R50 works in all but the one that likes 10-X.

It’s always best to do a full clean when switching out ammo. If your serious about the results. Why leave anything to chance!!

My team captain from my smallbore club gave me the hint of running a lightly soaked patch with mineral spirits through the bore to soften the lube then a couple dry patches 20 years ago. This seems to help the barrel settle down when swapping between different brands. At the price of match ammo these days "foulers" are expensive

Do any of you know how mail-ins at Mesa are handled for cleaning? I should have asked before I shipped my rifle to Mesa. I did a major clean before I shipped it, as they requested a clean bore.. Then 14 lots tested....3 lots re-tested...that's 170 rounds fired ,or the equivalent of three plus ARA cards. I would normally do a light clean in between cards.

The bore was way dirty when I got it back. I'm guessing a lot of folks don't want someone else cleaning their bore, but doesn't that put a question mark on some of the last lots tested?

Thanks,

Gerry

You have printouts of the results. If the 3 retests show great results then there isn't a cleaning issue.

Of the original 10 shot groups, three were 12s. The three re-tests of those lots were 14s. I have no idea what order they were fired in. Sorry, one re-test was a 15.
