Interesting and Revealing Ammunition Article

Inflation is to many dollars chasing too few goods. I believe prices may moderate somewhat. Don't hold your breath waiting on pre pandemic prices.

Pretty frightening. Does anyone recall when the price of diesel fuel went up several years ago and then the prices in grocery stores went up and this was blamed on the increase in diesel cost? Some food products remained relatively cost stable - but the packages contained less product. Very tricky retailing but it did not go unnoticed.
In the shooting industry there was a product marketed as Active shotgun shells and a lot of buyers were initially fooled by the good price as compared to Remington, Fiochi, AAA or what have you, UNTIL they realized, sometimes too late, that the box the ammo came in contained 20 and NOT the expected 25 rounds. Very tricky retailing and like some things at the grocery store, it did not go unnoticed.
I wonder how our military is dealing with this shortage issue? I would think that there are contracts in place that do not permit any type of ammo shortage or price increase. This last paragraph is not taking into account any political shenanigans by the current administration or the focus on wokeness rather than preparedness that may or may not be a reality in our military.

If you’re a firearm manufacturer, or a firearm accessory manufacturer, a behemoth who controls the ammunition industry is not your friend. How long until those remaining [not yet controlled by Vista] decide they’ve had enough and they form their own ammunition & components business?

yup:

there is an uproar in japan, of all places, over this right now. it is ironic, since we all have been conditioned to believe packaging, transportation, and marketing are 'the' major components to retail price... hmmm.

Sheets of toilet paper aren’t the same size as they used to be. Same, and sometimes more, sheets per rol.

A half gallon of ice cream hasn’t been a half gallon in years. Same as a pound of bacon that no longer weighs 16 ounces. A quart of Hellman’s Mayo isn’t 32 ounces either. Duke’s on the other hand proudly announces they still provide a quart.
I have said all along ,creating shortages by production is what i call crooked marketing. It is not just happening in ammo it is happening across a very wide range of common products we all need on a regular basis. It is simply put GREED. It is now the mindset of many of our industries. As long as they are allowed to price gouge it will only get worse. they blame it on supply chain disruption. I do realize Bidens energy policies that doubled the price of petrolium products did honestly cause wide scale price increases started the ball rolling then companies took advantage of that . thats when GREED took over. GREED is ugly!!!

Active made 20 and 25 round boxes. Anyone remember when federal did the same with American eagle brand 20 or so years ago? This isn't going away soon unless some competition come along to challenge the ammo manufacturers. Remember years ago when Homer Clark started Alcan? He did more to help reloaders situation than can be believed.

The little sugar cane growers around here had to band together to fight off the bigger ones and form a co-op. Concerned shooters should have done this 2 years ago.
With over 60000 members on this site, I would hope some of our younger self employed go getters would take a serious look at doing this.
I know I would consider buying a few shares of our new company.

Remington was bankrupt, gone, kaput, out of circulation due to their ownership. With the purchase Visa was able to add capacity at a much lower cost vs new construction. And spread common overhead costs. That's the way it works across all industries for survivors vs failures.

The fuel/energy prices are still too low, for many in the democrat party. They ran on raising fuel prices(climate change solution). They promised closing pipelines, mining and petroleum exploration reduction on public lands. Livestock production must be cut(climate change and "health concerns". The inflation is/was expected and NEEDED by the left to push Government as the solution. Control fuel, food, media and you can subjugate most. Makes government mandates, even those with constitutional protection, much easier.

Well, then we should expect a never ending squeeze on primers for handloaders, as that will help keep the demand higher for ammunition itself.

Does this logic apply to Hodgdon and other gun powder manufacturers as well? Will Varget ever be readily available in 8 lb jugs, albeit at a higher price?
